Curious - what is the shoe tree?

I believe it is the final resting place for sneakers belonging to "retiring" boat crews who work at WDW! It is apparently tradition for them to throw them into the tree on their last trip!

The Shoe Tree - According to the CM who rented the pontoon boat to us - the dock CMs add their shoes to the tree when they are through working at the dock. She said their shoes smell soooo bad from the water and damp, etc. that someone tossed them in the tree and the tradition was born.

That's what we were told anyway. We asked her about the tree we we got back to the dock and she said that no one had ever asked her about it. I didn't tell her that we took pics of it too.

Ooops. Looks like I was writing while Goofy-Blade was posting.

Let's see. I believe it was past the Wilderness Lodge as we were going around the lake. If you are in front of the lodge (in a boat on the lake), it's to the left.

Or a 3 year old who doesn't get his own way! I would have thought it was mine but he's not that hairy. I've definitely seen that look before.
