Have been away from this site for a while and decided to get another "Disney Fix"! These pictures are just terrific!!! MakinOrlando, your solo trip pics are wonderful! Would that I lived that close to "Heaven" that I could go every week! Your pictures brought back many good memories for me today. You even had a couple special places that I take pictures of my DGDs. Thank you. Could I ask, though, behind the China, I see a covering. What is that and do you know what is going on there?
Joe, your pictures are also terrific. I seem to use that word alot!! I love the picture of Main Street in the rain!!! Great!!!! I would be going, rain or not!!
Will be going back to the World in August---98 days!!! This was really a great shot in the arm for me today....Thank you all for the "memories"!!!!
I just got to page 306! Another month and I should finish. Here is my first attempt. First lesson is to get rid of the date, especially when it is wrong. It was actually May 05. Thanks

That picture of Main Street in the rain was taken Tuesday morning May 9th. It was kind of a bummer for me because our entire vacation I kept trying to make the "rope drop" and never made it. So Tuesday was the last day of our vacation and I asked my wife if she'd mind if I woke up early to get to the Magic Kingdom to see it. I walked out my door at the Pop Century and it was pouring rain. I figured, aw what the heck, maybe the rain will let up and I'll still see it... But nope, it kept on raining and they cancelled the rope drop. Oh well, maybe next time.
On the plus side there was hardly anyone there and I got to ride Space Mountain back to back to back in less than a half hour!!
It's a nice little ceremony that takes place approximately 5 minutes before the park opens. The CMs dance and await the arrival of the train. Then the train arrives with Mickey(and other characters) who brings out a family to help him open the park. Everybody counts down and they shoot streamers and pixie dust into the air to welcome everybody to the Magic Kingdom. Then the park opens and you enter. The first day we were there, my brother and I walked under the train station to see Mickey and Minnie coming down from the train station. It was a cool way to start the first day of our trip.
