11:43 AM PDT 9/23/2014 by Borys Kit
Disney Studios is off to explore a new enchanted territory with In the Land of Imagined Things.
The studio has picked up the spec, written by Joe Henderson, that has Charlie Bean, a former storyboard artist making his feature directorial debut with Lego movie Ninjago, attached to direct.
Plot details are being left to the imagination for the time being, but the plan is to make the feature a live-action/CG hybrid.
Justin Springer, whose credits include Tron: Legacy for Disney as well as Oblivion, is producing. Louie Provost is overseeing for the studio.
Henderson is a scribe who hails from the TV world. He was a writer and co-executive producer on USAs White Collar, which stars Matt Bomer. He was also a writer and co-exec producer on the J.J. Abrams-produced Almost Human and on USAs Graceland. He also recently sold a pilot to USA.
Bean was a storyboard artist on shows such as Dexters Laboratory and Samurai Jack and began directing with Robotboy. He made inroads with Disney when he directed Disney XDs Tron: Uprising. Ninjago, which is acting as his feature debut and is based on the Lego toyline, is in preproduction and has a Sept. 23, 2016, release date scheduled.
