I hope this is the appropriate place to post this question.

I am a single mother taking my 8 year old daughter to Disney for the first time. It's very convenient that Disney parks have photographers stationed around some of the attractions and I have been thinking about taking advantage of the pre-order special on the Disney Photopass CD so that I can actually be in some pictures with her.

Has anyone used this service and if so can you give me your opinions (pros/cons) of how the experience was for you?

I love photopass. Makes life so much easier. I really can't say I have any cons. They will add surprises to some of your pictures and you have the ability to edit the pictures once you are home. Although I like to do it there cause they have more options for editing. I hopey you and your daughter have a great time.

I can't comment from experience, but I can comment from research since I am also considering buying this for my upcoming trip. The opinions that I have got are: As long as you actually take advantage of the Photopass people at the rides and get many shots, then yes, its worth it. If you are like me(which your not since your daughter is 8 and my son was 2,hence, running around the entire time  ) we only got 2-3 different photopass pictures during our last vacation so it wouldn't have been worth it. Though this year he will be 3 so I am thinking of giving it a shot :thumbsup2

Thanks for the feedback! Also wondering if there are lines that build up waiting for photographers to take your photo at certain attractions?

Hi! The Photopass is a wonderful thing. I highly recommend it. I actually just did a blog post on it the day before yesterday, lol. The photographers are spread throughout the park and there is usually no line, but maybe one or two people standing around the photographers waiting for a picture.

It doesn't take much time out of your vacation, and I recommend getting a picture taken where ever you see a photographer. They will also take a picture of you with your camera if you ask them too, no charge. It's a nice way to get pictures on your camera phone :)

You can ask them about adding characters to certain photos, they will help you with how to stand for that specific photo.

At really busy locations, like in front of Spaceship Earth and Main Street you will see multiple photographers working, to speed things up.

I've never had to wait more than a person or two, and I've never seen a "line" for one either.

Have fun!

That is so helpful! Thank you for replying :) Based on your review I have decided to definitely purchase the pre-order special!! Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

Our first trip with our DD(then 3) in 2008 we had no idea about photopass - we hadnt been for a fews since having DD, so we did the photos and bought the CD whilst in Disney. Since then we have pre-purchased and made a point of heading straight over to any photopass photographer we see.

Somewhere on the photopass website there is a list of places to have the special character pictures taken - Tinkerbell in MK, baby Simba in AK, Stitch in HS Balloons in EPCOT.

As others have said, when you get home you can add effects and borders to your picturs which makes them look really fantastic.

We usually manage to get over 200 during a two week holiday.

Also, if you have any photos taken at character meals, if you dont want to buy them (Tusker House Breakfast/Chef Mickey) just slide the large photo out of its frame and make a note of the photopass code that is printed down the side, then you can add it to your photopass CD.

The photopass is great if you make sure that you stop long enough to get your picture taken. I recommend that you get a card from a waterpark as soon as you can because they are smaller and have a rubber band attached to them. I keep mine on my wrist. I love that I don't have to dig for it when we are getting our picture mande. I didn't read the entire post, but I am sure someone told you to take a picture of your card so if you lose it you can get the number off.

Last time we were there, I ended up with over 600 pictures on my CD and loved it! We didn't spend a lot of time waiting for them to be taken either! Enjoy!!

We found it very much worthwhile. We had almost 300 pictures on our PP, and another 900 on our camera itself. I'm obsessed with taking pictures, so having a PP actually allowed me to be in some with my whole family. We did get some of them to take pictures with our camera, but we also forgot alot of times, so ti was nice to have many different pictures.

We have already purchased ours for our trip in September. The price is going up very soon, by about 20$ so it is worthwhile to get it right away. The service is awesome. Last trip there were 17 of us and we got over 700 pictures on 4 disks at the end. Very worthwhile, as some of us are the trip photographers and don't often get in any of our own shots so this was great for the whole group to get in some shots. Great for you and your child to have memory photos together!

We bought one from our 1 day trip to DL last year! I wasn't planning on it but they captured shots I just didn't get! That surprised face when DD2 saw the princesses for the first time, a quick kiss with Mickey, a running hug to Minnie. So worth it! We're heading to WDW in September and I've already bought our PhotoPass, don't think I'd do Disney without it!
