Disney PHOTOPASS CD CHANGED...now a waste if you ask me!

We went to the World from April 19th to the 29th and then again from May 20th to the 29th. The first time I purchased the photo pass CD (for $99) and was able to do all of the enhancements to the pictures, it was GREAT...just so people know you CANNOT do any enhancements on the CDs now...only ones that they do are the "special" ones where they make you look like you are holding Tink or what not. In April I was able to add signatures, crop photos, add borders, it was GREAT...well worth the money. Now with the changes and being unable to do those enhancements they have made it worthless...I could have taken the same pictures with my camera, but didn't because I assumed that I could be able to get those enhancements done. Just beware. I got different stories from each person that I voiced my UNHAPPY opinion to...one told me it was because people are taking too many pictures and wanted to enhance them all and it was too time consuming (I call it getting your moneys worth), another told me that the size of the CDs were bogging their computer system down, another manager told me that they have taken away the enhancement feature totally from the computers which is BS because another CM told me that if I found a nice CM in the photo studio it could be done. They did say that they are looking at changing back to doing it, but they didn't know when. It was VERY disappointing...I raised a stink about it...we will see what happens! GOOD LUCK!

Wow that is good to know since the enhancements would be the only reason I would pay that kind of money. I wish they would set it up so that it could be done on the website that way we could do it ourselves so it would be exactly as we want it and they would not have to pay someone to take the time to do it for us. Maybe they can figure it out by December- I hope so.

Exactly how does the Photopass CD work? I've heard about it, but don't qutie understand where you buy it and what all you get for your money.... Thanks in advance!

Don't get me wrong, it is still a nice thing to have...you don't have to be passing your camera around, trying to find a kind person to take a picture of your family...there are pros to the PhotoPass. But having the enhancements to me were what made it worth the $100...but I am still glad to have the pictures of our whole family together. I just think that $100 for unenhanced pictures is excessive...I could see maybe $50 for the unenhanced pics but $100 is just too much for that.

You can get the CD at a few locations in Disney...I know you can get it back in Toon Town at MK, at the Camera Center at the front of MK and at the Camera Center in EPCOT. I have also been told that you can get a CD at the Grand Floridian Hotel.

As for what you get with the CD...in April when I purchased the disk I got to enhance any or all of my pictures...you could add borders, overlays, signatures, etc. Then they would burn all of the pictures onto a disk...on the disk you would have the original pictures prior to having the enhancements and then you would have the enhanced pictures. Now they have changed it so all you get is the picture themselves...no enhancements (with the exception of the pictures that they have you hold your hands to look like you are holding Simba, Tink, etc).

Did you know that you can do borders and cropping on the web site? I'm not sure about getting those changes burned onto a CD (I haven't looking into it that much because I'm not interested on buying one), but you can still get the extras added to your photos to buy.

Yeah you can do the changes online to the pictures and order the prints there, but it certainly doesn't take long to be spending well over $100 on those pictures, that is what made the CD a MUCH better deal.

That is good to know - kind of stinks. So can you order the CD online or does it have to be done in the parks before you leave? It would be a better deal all around for WDW (if the time and server load is their concern) if you could go online yourself and add any enhancements and then order the CD from home.

I was told that there is a place that you can order the CD after you leave the parks...but I have NO clue where it is, I do know it is not on the Photopass website. And I do know that you cannot do enhancements on that disk either. According to the guy at Disney that called me about my complaint, he said that since you cannot do those enhancements online, that is one reason that they stopped doing them at the parks...they wanted it to be same across the board! I wish I had known that you could get the CD after you left because there were pictures that I would have liked to have done that evening but had to get the CD done before the places closed.

Online CD

I'm surprised at all that they stopped doing the enhancements. They took forever to get done for each guest.

If there's a picture or two that you really want a signature or whatever for, buy those 2 and then have the CD done for all of them.

Thanks for the link...wish I knew that BEFORE we left, but it is ok...we have lots of pictures regardless.

I know what you mean about it being so time consuming...when I talked to one of the managers of the PhotoPass division I told him that I think they should maybe limit the number of photos that you can enhance...like say you can enhance 10 photos and we will put those on the disk and that is it. Eventually they will get it all figured out.

Right, it's fairly new feature (CD came out in December) so they have to work out all the kinks.

Even if you can't have all the enhancements, getting up to 400 pictures put on a CD for $99 that includes your whole family (I'm never in the pictures we take with our camera) still might be a good investment to some folks. Certainly cheaper then buying the photos individually through Disney ($12.95 each).

Oh there is no question that it is nice to have the pictures with your family...I don't think that most people get 400 pictures...but it is certainly nice...I don't disagree with that at all. My biggest complaint was that we could do them like 3 weeks before and then when we went back we couldn't...it was disappointing! Can't win them all...but the guy that I talked to at Disney was very nice...and helped me out to make me feel a little better about the whole situation.

I know it doesn't fix your frustrations of not being able to do it in the parks, but some people on these boards have provided some borders for enhancing the photos yourself.

There are even signatures that you can add to the photos on this thread as well.
