Disney photographers taking pictures with my camera?

Last January, before I knew anything about photopass, several Disney photographers took pictures of our group using our camera. Once was in Toontown in Mickey and Minnie's tent, another time was in front of the hat in DHS. They just offered to take the pic with our camera. I didn't think anything of it, other than "Oh, that's nice" until I read about people paying $99 for the same thing!

So if they will take pictures of us with our camera, why do people buy the photopass? Or do you think this was unusual, maybe because they weren't busy? If they are just standing around, is it against the rules to ask them to take a picture of us with our camera?

The photo pass people have always been more than willing to use my camera. I have never run into a problem. I still order photo pass pictures every once in a while because they offer borders or gifts I can't get with my camera. I also like the magic shots the photo pass photographers can take.

So you don't have to lug around your camera and so you can get shots of the whole family and magic shots. They will take 1 picture usually with your camera where as photopass cameras they snap several shots, also often get those 'un rehearsed' moments at charecter interactions that you would not have on your camera.
