Disney Photo Pass Disappointment

Has anyone used the new Disney Photo Pass? I used it recently for a trip w/DD, DH stayed home and I thought this was the perfect way to get pictures taken together to show him. I am so disappointed...our Star Wars pass with pictures with Princess Leia have never shown up, and on another pass we are missing 10 character photos! Our first and third showed up but none of the others. :confused3

Just wanted to pass this along - don't count on photos from the Disney photographers showing up! In hindsight I should have just handed them my camera and asked them to take the pictures. Sigh. Live and learn!

I take a lot of my own photos, but I decided to give photo pass a try this time in addition to taking my own pics. I found the quality to be inconsistent at best. Some of the photographers don't know enough to use a fill in flash when they are shooting into the sunlight or if the subject is in a shadow. Consequently in those photos WE came out looking like shadows.

But the biggest warning of all--be careful if you give anyone your stuff to hold. The photographers offer to hold your fanny packs, cameras, etc, so they aren't in the picture. One CM dropped my digital camera and broke it. And wouldn't you know it--the pictures she took were the absolute WORST of the lot!

The only thing I like is they do some cute stuff. I have a shot of me in front of the castle with my daughter and her friend in which tinkerbell is superimposed. The photographer posed us with our hands one on top of another palms up, and it looks like tinkerbell is standing in our hands. I also have one of me "holding" stitch in a hat (they gave me the hat to hold and stitch was superimposed later) taken at MGM. The characters come out very bright and cartoon like, the look exactly like the character from the movie.

If you email them your photopass numbers they will look for them. I've heard that they do a very good job of finding them!

We had some taken on our Christmas 2004 trip. We lost the Photopass and they could not locate us when we called.

The only problem is that our heads were cut off in a couple of pictures. You think they would train the photographers. I also didn't know about the discount until after I got home but fortunately the pictures we took ourselves were better. Next visit though I hope they get some good shots.

We were one of those couples that did not take to heart what we read here. We lost our pass and had not written the nuimber down.

I did email them with a description of where and when the pictures were taken.
They came back and asked if we could send a picture of outselves, we did and they found our pictures!!!!!

We had a total of ten pictures taken and all but one shot we had our eyes closed.

Needless to say, we did not buy any. Even with the 50% off discount.

The only thing that I was disappointed about was that you can't look at all of your photos at once. I had them take a lot of different pictures at three different parks, and went and looked at the pictures at MK, I could only see the pictures they took there. I did not realize that would happen and was looking forward to picking out miy pictures at the end of the week.

When you get home you can look at all the pictures online.

I was one of those that was missing a card. They found our pictures as well.

I think they do a great job for what is really a free service if you choose not to purchase. We had to get the Tinker Bell in from of castle. Great picture.

We were fine with our pictures, I agree the quality isn't the best but was it ever really good on those kinds of photos? We never thought it was great.....but it's a fun way to retrieve your photos after you get home IF they find them that is.
Sorry you lost some of yours. That would be a drag for sure.

One thing I wish they'd do is add the ride photos to the photo cards. I hope they impliment that in the near future. I'd buy ride photos more than the cutsie ones.

That's be a great idea! I like the ride photos. We always buy 1 each visit but we check them all out except this last visit where we were trying to stay ahead of a tour group of roudy kids between splash mountain and big thunder mountain.

I like the idea about the ride pictures too.

Hmm.. I guess you would still go up and check it, and if you like it ask them to load it onto your card..

We did the Photopass in Dec 04 and ours were great. I would have loved a 50% of coupon at the time :)

We did the photo pass back in Feb when my dh and I were there for our 10 yr anniversary. I thought the pictures came out fine. We did have some kids in our lot of pictures but they weren't ours, adults only trip! We also had the 50% off deal. I know that the 50% off wasn't good for ride photos, my question is can you use the photopass for ride pictures? For some reason I didn't think that you could.

Thanks everyone (also take a look at my ticker, I can barely contain myself :goodvibes )

Well, at least you all had your photos taken by the Photopass photographers!! We just got back from our trip (6/1 - 6/6) and only ONE photographer approached us to have our photo taken and that was on the very last day at Epcot. For the person who always takes the photos, I was very disappointed...no photos of the three of us together. I plan to send a note to WDW on this asap. Maybe I have a misunderstanding of the system, but I thought the photographers just took photos of people as they passed by...asking if they wanted to or not. I mean, I didn't think it was my job to search for the photographers and ask them to take our photos.

Also, went to the website to see those couple of shots the photographer did take and couldn't access it as they are improving it for my benefit. We'll see if I ever get to see them...

Otherwise, in general I think it's a great option...you are not obligated to buy the photos, but can if you want. Also, with the website, you don't have to buy them on the spot and worry about bending the photos you bought. So, it's a good thing, but yeah, if they are taking professional photographs they should have a clue as to how to frame the shot so no heads are cut off, people are centered, etc....basic photography know how.

With the popularity of photopass, you almost DO have to look for a photographer. I mean, you can't miss them if you walk down main street, hollywood blvd. or the oasis at AK (harder to find at epcot), but alot of times they ARE busy and you might have to tap one on the shoulder
For some reason, my annual passholder photopass card has a magnetic strip but the one i was given for the free visa picture (last week), does not. Just wondering if anyone has used their annual passholder photopass card; i'm almost afraid to use it since they were issued awhile ago.

I just signed in today to look at our July pictures. I was surprised to see that we had 132 pictures . . . until I looked at them and found about 60 of them belong to OTHER PEOPLE! It appears that the photographer at the Judge's Tent used our card for about 60 additional pictures! I hope these people can match up, but I doubt it. I did send an email to Disney but haven't yet received a reply.

Good thing I brought my own camera!!

Disney's Photo Pass LOST ALL my MVMCP X-mas photos!!!

Yes... they were very nice, took my #'s, and..... nothing.

Never, ever again!! :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I don't think disappointing is a strong enough word!! :guilty: That's awful. Yes I know it works out great for many, maybe even most people, but when you're one of the ones it doens't work for it's terrible!!! I'm soooooo glad you had your own pics!!
