Heya everyone, i'm looking to get some input on these 2 hotels. I'm just really curious about the ups and downs of each and which you would choose and why?? Some things i'm wondering are which is closer...what the standard rooms are like...which views the parks better..which feels more "magical"?? Things like that and tidbits that you think would change my mind about the other would be great input for me!! Thanks in advance!

Disneyland Hotel is the ORIGINAL - something to be said about that!

Paradise Pier is nice, has a entry gate for DCA, but is further away from Downtown Disney and DL. View of DCA is nice. We enjoy it.

Disneyland Hotel is closer to Downtown Disney and Disneyland. The view overlooking DTD are nice. I don;t know what other views are like.

I think DLH is the best of the two. Paradise Hotel is very plain and not as "Disney" as the other two resorts.

Enjoy your stay. :earsboy:

I cannot speak for PP but DLH was wonderful. I have wanted to stay there since I went my first time years ago. We just stayed in Dec 05 and it was magical. I would reccomend DLH over PP.

The private entrance for Paradise Pier into DCA was closed a couple of years ago. You can walk across the street into the Grand and use their entrance into DCA.

The Pier is farther away from DL and DTD but it's still my favorite of the three. I find it quieter plus I love the pool slide. LOL

Another vote for DLH. We love it. My dd 5 loves all the disney touches, we have fun in the pool, working the remote control boats and just walking around the property with the beautiful gardens and waterfalls. Inside the staff were friendly, the room nice with lots of disney touches. It felt like we never left the magic....

We have stayed at both and love the PP hotel. It is very spacious and we have 4 kids so we need it. I paid for the upgrade view. Wouldn't do that again for 220 dollars even though it was cool! My sister in law did not upgrade and they upgraded her for free! I personally thought it felt closer to Dl than the DLH. Maybe because of the CA park entrance. There is not much of a lobby( we don't hang out in one anyway) and the elevators aren't the spediest. But my older two kids 10 and 9 preferred the pool to the neverland pool. We found plent of magic at the PPH and I will always go there over the DL for our family.

We're looking to stay at the DLH in March so it's great to read so many positive reviews.

We stayed at the PP in November and loved it. It was so quiet and the room was spacious, I am sure if we went in the summer we would stay at the Disneyland Hotel because they have a much better pool.

Even though Paradise Pier is newe,r I still would choose Disneyland Hotel over the others. Just because I'm an oldfashioned kinda gal : :earsgirl:

I stayed there last year July 2005 and had a blast!

Have fun ::MickeyMo

DLH is more like a resort. Not a grand resort or like the WDW resorts, but more like a resort than the PPH. There's a lot more activity, the grounds are more spacious, there's a quiet pool in addition to the festive Neverland Pool, there are more restaurants and shops, and it's attached to DTD. PPH is more like a decent hotel and definitely more quiet. DLH is more convenient to DL, but not much more so when the monorail is not operating. I'd choose the DLH over the PPH anytime unless I was able to get a much better deal at the PPH, or if the DLH (and GCH) was booked.

This completely sums up my thoughts! I have stayed at the DLH 5 times and PP twice. PP was great, staff wonderful and the theme park view rooms are wonderful. But it just doesn't have quite the same feel as the DLH. I especially prefer the pool area at the DLH over PP's. PP has cool slide but the pool area itself is boring and the pool bar never seems to be open when we are there. I also like the fact that the DLH has more dining options, including Crocs Bits N Bites, which is near the pool and serves counter service type food for a decent price (by Disney standards lol). I picked PP last time because it saved me $700 and that made if very worth it and I was very happy with that decision. However it takes about that much to sway me away from the DLH which is just my family's favorite hotel anywhere.

Well, first let me say I love the PPH. I love the beach theme, the sunny decor, the friendly people, and the wonderful restaurants. The rooms are spacious, and the price is more affordable than the other two Disney hotels.

But I also love the DLH. We took the opportunity to stay at the DLH last fall, and through a complete stroke of luck were placed in a room that people apparently normally complain about. It was in the tower closest to DTD, I think it's the Marina tower?, and apparently the noise from the bands in DTD bother a lot of people. I can't tell you how nice it was to throw those glass doors wide open and listen to the wonderful selection of music played LIVE from the comfort of our room. I love the pool at the Disneyland Hotel more than any other pool at Disneyland (which the tag fairy may have noticed :P). I might not have been as happy at the other towers, but I don't know. The DLH has beautiful grounds, and a great selection of restaurants. The people seemed less friendly and helpful to me, but that could be a PPH bias. :) Both hotels have a very cool cartoon-viewing room, but it's harder to find the one at the DLH because of the number of buildings.

It would be very hard to choose, but if I could definitely get a room facing DTD, DLH would win. :)

I stayed at DLH for the first time a few weeks ago...and I LOVED IT. I wanted every piece of furniture in the rooms for my own! The staff was extremely friendly and the walk through DD isn't bad. If you choose to stay there, stay in the MARINA Tower...we got a view of the parking lot but we could see the nightly fireworks from Disneyland from our 10th floor room. I just felt like royalty staying at THE Disneyland Hotel :wizard:

I also couldn't pass up the smokin' deal of $129 @ night :earseek:

I was just curious as how to you got that deal???
Thank you everyone for your posts!! I most definately goin to stay at the DL hotel for sure!

I have stayed at both and honestly, like both the same. I know the general rule is DLH is closer, however we were in thr furthest tower and hald the entrance was blocked off, so our walk from DLH was further than the walk I had from PP.
AT DLH I had a view of the fireworks and the waterfall was below us. AT PP I had a great view of CA. DLH I loved the Disney touches in the room, PP I loved the beachy/summery themeing. PP I liked the price better than DLH. ;) I really found nothing wrong with either hotel. I guess they are both Disney, how bad can they be? :thumbsup2

Hotels.com...it was $129 and Paradise Pier was $119...so I could've chosen either or. I would check that website from time to time because they usually have about 5 or 6 deals at that price! The final price with taxes was $150, which I still didn't think was a bad price considering the next night would've costed $300 :earseek:

Well ofcourse i think DLH its wonderful, it closer DL and Downtown but i think you make a mistace if you chose it the first time. I lived at Paradise Pier hotel last year at my birthday. I think this hotel was the most wonderful Disney Hotel ever and i have been to different Disneyland/World 8 times all over the world. I Think it was soooo magical! and thats 100% DISNEY NOTING else! i loved it! it had a Disney shop, resturant, pool, gym well everything. its not far from DLH. I think DLH was very beautyful but Paradise pier gave me a Magical Feeling that i never forget. And you can also see the fireworks from the window.the Minnie Mouse at the PCH grill at PPH was the kindest cutest in the world! well if you have small kidz maybe DLH will be the best cuz its little closer but if you have little older like 7 and up i think PPH would be the best for you. All the Disney hotels is magical. So its very hard to chose but i thoud PPH was wonderful.
