OK...first thing first, this was my wifes idea for me to join and post so all of our friends and family could follow our adventures (good, bad, or otherwise). I was surprised to be starting before the trip, but here we are, my wife swears that the pre-trip report is just as important.
I guess I should start by telling you a little about me and my brood, you see I am a guys guy. I like sports and beer and all things that would make Tim Allen grunt, my wife on the other hand is a DISNEY NUT! I mean fanatic, I mean connoisseur (thats the right word to keep me safe). My daughter is almost 10 and I think is following in moms footsteps with all things Disney. Actually I probably am just as big a fan as they are, but we can keep that our little secret. By the way the wife and I are both in our mid-30's and we are DVC members (since 02). ANYWAYS on to Stacy and Clinton.
If you don't know what the show "What Not to Wear" is about....well its pretty easy to figure out. As I started to layout some of my favorite summer tee's for the trip my wife gave me that look. If you are a married guy you know the look, and if you are a women, or a girl for that matter, because my daughter already has it down, you know what I am talking about. It's the look that says "you have got to be kidding! I KNOW you aren't wearing those" and with my daughter it was the look of "PuhLeeze!!". Now since for some reason I can't seem to post attatchments yet, I will have to tell you why these shirts were all vetoed by the wife.
Shirt #3: Green with white letters "Take me for a ride"
Shirt #4: Montana Buzzcocks w/a picture of a chicken
Shirt #5: One of my favorites Dark Blue w/white letters "College" the greatest shirt from the greatest movie (Animal House, John Belushi, ALL guys should know this)
If I can figure out how to post the photos of these fine beauties, I will. Back to my clothes (outfits as the girls call them). By this point I was stressed and pretty sure I had no idea how someone should dress who is going to walk around in the Florida heat for the next 11 days. So in a last ditch effort I said to myself WWMD (what would Mickey do?). I went for broke.......I pulled on my cargo shorts which are a little too short and just odd (to tell you the truth I have never worn them in public) pulled them up to just south of the nipple line, tucked in a Mickey Mouse shirt, belted it all up tight, threw on some nice black socks and sandals to complete the look and finished it with a Tinkerbell fanny pack. Thats right I said fanny pack! Well, lets just say it worked, my wife promised she would leave me alone to pack like a big boy and well,as for my daughter, she still will not come out of her room. We have a few more days before our trip so my wife and I will keep working on her and hopefully she will never have to see me dressed that way again (at least until she starts dating).
Well, I really do need to finish packing and maybe I will sneak my special outfit in (we will be there for our Anniversary). I guess you will have to check out our very first trip report. By the way we will be there July 23 thru August 3rd.....keep your eyes out for me and my sweet tee's or maybe even my super cool Disney Dad outfit!!!
