WDW Chat is unavailable right now, but maybe someone here can help me figure this out...

I am pricing out a 7 night trip.
When I look for 7 day park tickets, no extras, it comes out to $1422 plus $92.43 tax for 4A 1C.
7 nights at POR for 2A, 3C (2C need A park tickets, but aren't charged as adults in the room) works out to $1707. When I add these 2 totals together I get $3129.
When I use the Disney Package (instead of Park Tickets and Room Only, and then adding them together), I get a quote for a total of $3227.09 for the same thing. (I was trying to figure out if extending tickets to 10 days and adding WPAM and NE was worth it)...

Why is it not cheaper to get a package? Or at least the same price?
What am I missing? :confused3

Your 3129 doesn't have the $92 tax added it doesn't look like

Not in front of a computer, but wonder if the room only rate does not include tax, while maybe the MYW package does? I'll check when I get back to the office

but 3129 + 92.43 is only 3221.43, and I am still out $8?
I know I'm missing something somewhere, I just can't figure it out!
I want to make sure that I am comparing apples to apples when I add in the no expiry option, but even my 7 day comparison doesn't add up!

I did the same kind of number crunching in the past. When we compared booking a room only through Disney, airfare separate and park tickets through Disney vs a Disney package there was a small different in price. We had checked to make sure that taxes were accounted for and they had been. The only thing I could come up with is this: When booking a package you receive a coupon booklet for various things around Disney. My guess is you are essentially paying for your "deals" so to speak. Nothing in life is free anymore ;). My advise if you are looking for a deal and don't mind purchasing things separately would be to check Undercover Tourist for tickets. For our last trip we booked our airfare ourselves, did an room only through Disney and park tickets through Undercover Tourist. When we crunched the numbers it was cheaper :thumbsup2

Actually, it's only $5.66. ;) But I'd say POOH1010 is probably right; personally though, I wouldn't worry about such a small difference.
