I booked two rooms on the Disney Dream after saving for four years. My wife, kids and I were so excited at the opportunity to have a vacation on Disney's newest cruise ship that we made reservations before the ship was even finished being built! We are scheduled to set sail this August, but the dream has become a nightmare! Disney uses Epsilon for their email system, and their system was hacked, and my email compromised. I spent days getting in touch with all my contacts-- businesses, friends organizations-- who were receiving pornographic emails sent through my hijacked email due to Disney’s use of Epsilon! I'm running for school board, I belong on the executive committee of a major political party, I’ve applied for a teaching job with a Christian school, and I have also started a small business. Imagine my surprise when the Christian school called me that they had received pornography sent by my email! I would say my chances of working there are not so good. The damage to my reputation, the chances of employment, and the economic damage caused to business contacts is immense. I am still trying to repair the damage. I called Disney to explain the damage that was caused; I even talked with a manager who was rude and told me that after consulting executives, they were not going to do anything for me or my wife and kids! The trip HAS BEEN RUINED! The manager rudely said, “How is compensating you relative?” Really? Are you kidding me? All the lost time, which equals money, and the damage to business partners and a chance of employment! I called Disney back and talked with a manager named Corie, and he said he would escalate the situation, but that was days ago and no one has called me back! Disney made $37.4 billion last year. I think they can afford to take care of their guests! They claim it’s Epsilon’s fault, but who works for whom? Disney hired Epsilon as their email provider! If Disney has your email, BEWARE! The damage will be overwhelming! Don't go on their cruises or to their parks. Stand with me and boycott them until they make the situation right! Disney, you have my phone number. Do the right thing!

What is it exactly you wanted for them to do for you? From my understanding, all that was compromised was the email address itself which could result in increased Spam. Needless to say it is always a good idea to change all your passwords on relevant accounts if you fear the security of your email or any other account. I'm sorry this happened to you but I'm not sure why you would expect others to boycott Disney for you.

Are you serious, accounts get hacked all the time. Disney was not the only company that was involved, so how are you sure it was from them.

And actually this is the first I have heard of anyone saying SPAM was sent to others from personal emails. Everyone was warned that if your email was registered with Disney or the other companies you might see an increase in the SPAM you recieve. There were absolutely no reports of it sending out emails in your name.

I am sorry and if I am wrong I will be the first to apologize but I call troll, on this first post.

You are going to have to boycott a lot of major companies, because a lot of companies that use Epsilon had their emails hacked. How do you know it was the file they got from Disney and not another company that is causing the junk?

The only way your email could have been hacked is if you were sent a virus and you opened up an email containing one. And yes, it was more than Disney. 2500 companies actually. Walgreens. Kroger, Target, HSN, Marriott, Verizon are just a handfull.
It stinks when your email list gets hijacked. Anyone with a computer knows it could happen to them and hopefully all your contacts understand this and that you didn't send them porn.

C'mon man! There is no way in h e double hockey sticks I'm buying that you lost money because of this. Who would hold you accountable for something that wasn't your fault? A simple mass email explaining that your account was hacked would probably be sufficient. Let's be real. Do you really believe that school thinks that a person that applied to work for them would send porn purposely? And look at my avatar.

I'm not exactly sure how your Disney Dream cruise was ruined or what you'd like Disney to do for you. I can understand your frustration at the email issue though. It has happened to me, too. However, I have had none of the experiences you have discussed here. If you are really unhappy with Disney's service, write them a letter. I can't offer much more advice.

I'm sorry this happened to you but having your email address stolen doesn't give anyone access to your email account. :confused3

Exactly! I would love to know how Disney gave out his password when they never had it.

:scratchin
Nice first post; coming to the Dis and asking for a boycott?

Interesting since only your account would be spammed by these people. Only if they hacked your email would or you have a virus would they be able to send emails from your account to your contact list.

So did you do a virus scan on your computer, change your password once this happened???? hmmmmm.

Do you own a Segway?

Please count me out of your so called boycott. Why should I boycott the one company that I could always count on? Will it really help your political career if I throw away 33 years of knowledge, love, and devotion to a company that cares more about me than any politician cares about me?

I have to wonder if this is the reincarnation of Tender Donkey?

Anyways, I think I'll go spend some money on something Disney just because of that post.

Interesting post except most companies that keep your email on file, don't necessarily have it on file. Many times, they are stored as a small code not a full email. Companies do this for security reasons. Not saying, it couldn't happen, but unlikely. Subscribing to a company newsletter is different.

Fun while it lasted.:rotfl2:

Gosh, the OP sure has had bad luck. Sounds like you need a good Disney vacation to relax.
