Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2025 Edition

I really don't know where best to put my thoughts on this, but listening to the start of the latest DVC Show about the Abu Dhabi park news made me rather mad. It may all be fun banter between friends, but, wow. Thanks to Amy for pointing out it's not "pretty much Saudi Arabia", as that's much like saying Florida is the same as Cuba. Complaining about Disney World not getting any love, being the ginger child, tends to miss the overall point of WDW: it's a once in a lifetime destination. If you want a local park move to LA.
If you're lucky/unlucky enough to live in Orlando you do have the option of enjoying state of the art entertainment in Epic Universe, so I don't want to hear grumbling about not getting the good stuff. If takes me 9 hours to drive to WDW, it's an 18 hour flight to Abu Dhabi, it's a 7 hour flight to Paris, it's a fair distance to go to Anaheim. The rest of the world doesn't get the luxury of hopping a cab to the Magic Kingdom. Where do Australians go for their nearest park? Tokyo? Hong Kong maybe?
I shall be happy to travel to Abu Dhabi to try out all their entertainment, and to see what WDW will look like in 30 years when it's too hot to go out in the sun.

More than anything, Paul and Amy haven't been to Disneyland Paris? For shame!

Aw, going to miss it by a week! Glad we at least went on the island last year.

On the new art: I like that they will keep some water along the Frontierland walkway!

Edit to add: Looks like trees and such will provide barriers and sightline covers between old Frontierland and Piston Peak National Park:

"Welcome to Piston Peak National Park

Imagine an awe-inspiring wilderness filled with towering trees, snowcapped mountains, breathtaking waterfalls, roaring rivers and impressive geysers. While fictional, Piston Peak is inspired by the Rocky Mountain area and the history and iconic sights of the American Frontier and its national parks.

Inside Piston Peak, guests will be able to see and explore the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails and more all set within the Disney and Pixar “Cars” universe. To make sure these buildings fit naturally within the surrounding majestic landscapes, Imagineers are using a style of architecture called “Parkitecture,” which was developed by the National Park Service to create structures that harmonize with the natural environment.

From the outside, trees will provide a natural barrier between the off-road rally and other parts of Frontierland and Liberty Square. Rugged mountains with dramatic peaks will be nestled along a calming waterway across from Grizzly Hall and soaring geysers from the famed Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will stretch into the trails of our off-road rally."

Feels like a big difference between this and the concept art last year. Generally suspicious about concept art but here's another example!
Did you mean to add a picture of last year's art? Not showing for me if so. But you made me curious and indeed it's different, there wasn't so much water before! I think the new art, though more cartoony, looks better

When is the last time a Disney attraction actually looked like the concept art? So I will hold judgement

They said SIGHT LINES are in mind, so you won't see mountain tops from certain areas of the park and you won't hear the engine noise. We'll See

I feel like "maybe they heard" the sadness at the loss of water because the new drawing seems to have maintained a "river" of water between this land and the others. Hopefully as shown (and described) it will be visible from Frontierland and appear to be a connection to Tiana's. Seems a much better of flow and connection.

Just hoping Villains Land gets a formidable barrier that makes you enter an isolated land (somewhat like Galaxy Edge). The drawing makes it look like the wide open space in Carsland will be it's border with Villains Land.

I assume there will also be a barrier with Haunted Mansion and that that barrier will also allow passage to Villains Land. Maybe like the tunnel that leads to Galaxy's Edge
I would almost guess it would just be gothic style fencing and a gateway that leads towards a villains area, and it’ll be close enough to how HM is set up.

And then Villains land will take all remaining space up to the railroad and wrap behind Be Our Guest and all.

But this gateway will hopefully be wide to accommodate all the people trying to get in and out of a highly anticipated land! The only other way in/out I guess will be by BTMRR, and I'm thinking it would be narrower over there?
