Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Also the film has excellent music, but this all takes place post-film, so I guess they won't be using any of that. Not to mention there were so many beautiful cool atmospheric settings that could have worked really well on the dark inside of the mountain (Facilier's place, Mama Odie's place with all the glass bottles, the bayou itself, etc). I really enjoy PaTF but this description sounds....not great for me personally. It would be nice to have Randy Newman on board to create music just for the ride.

I do appreciate that they are trying to do a continuation of the story and not just the typical "let's look at the movie in a super abbreviated dark ride format" but I dunno. Just doesn't sound exciting. Hopefully they pull it off.
Honestly I would have enjoyed this. A classic "dark ride" where Tiana was telling the story to someone. While I love the idea of the retheme to Tiana, I don't understand why they are making it a new story. The first concept art they showed with Mama Odie's boat at the top looked so cool.

You know, I've been re-reading the milquetoast description and am starting to think that the "missing ingredient" storyline is just a queue game - you know, those distractions in the queue that nobody ever does. I am not sure the ride's story is really going to be that, it may just be the setting. That release sure didn't do much to make it sound fun though, did it?

I hope so! I really want this retheme to succeed.

Full Housekeeping Services Returning to All Disney World Resorts This Month

It’s no secret that our guests love staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. After a day full of adventures, there’s nothing quite like coming back to your resort room to find that it’s been refreshed and transformed, as if by magic, by the talented housekeeping cast members who bring a little extra enchantment to our rooms and hallways.

We’ve heard from many of you about how much you love and have missed the more regular housekeeping services we offered prior to the pandemic, and I’m excited to share that we’ve been ramping them back up across Walt Disney World Resort hotels! By the end of February, full housekeeping room cleanings will once again be available at all of our Resort hotel rooms, with services provided daily or every other day depending on where you are staying. These full cleanings include everything you’d expect – from replacing towels and amenities to cleaning the bathrooms, making the beds, emptying trash and recycling, tidying the room and vacuuming.

“Cast members always bring an element of magic and fun to the job that they do!” said Matt N., a planDisney panelist who loves staying at our Disney resorts. “From a simple smile when you see them in the hallways, to something special left behind in the room, to a sparkling clean room, Disney housekeepers always go above and beyond.”

Guests may also sometimes come across some extra magical touches — like coming back to your room to find your new Mickey ear hat on display or your Disney plushes posing playfully — that make your room feel that much more like home away from home.

“They go out of their way to make us smile when we return to our room after a busy theme park day,” said Amy A., a planDisney panelist. “Setting up my son’s stuffed animal with funny sunglasses, tidying up my hair appliance cords, or creating a hidden Mickey in a supply restock — they connect with us and show they care for us, even when we don’t see them.”

And speaking of rooms, you might notice details from newly refurbished rooms at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, which will start debuting to guests over the coming weeks. My personal favorite is the themed artwork featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and other favorite Disney characters strolling through iconic locations at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort!

I know many of us are sharing in the excitement of this much-anticipated update, and it’s all possible thanks to the cast members who make it happen behind the scenes.

It is just background to the attraction, not the whole story of the ride like Dis Twitter is making it out to be :D Simply saying Tiana has a new business and is hosting a mardis gras party but needs one ingredient for her recipe, which we are off to find :D

Which still sounds boring though. 🙂
Whilst it may not sound the best, something is bound to go "wrong" to create an adventure. Just like Expedition Everest's premise is a gentle train ride through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp, but something "goes wrong" to turn it into a thrilling Yeti-filled adventure. I'm just hoping something similar will happen to Tiana's

Yeah, but at least EE has an interesting and exotic locale to explore. Climbing a mountain is already exciting. Looking through the swamp for a chili pepper isn't. Now, they could have framed it much better to make it sound exciting, but that didn't happen in this press release. Again, with all the scrutiny on them over this project, they need to really sell it, and they sure didn't with that one.

Very true, felt like an own goal against Splash purists who will find any reason to hate on Tiana's retheme. Definitely think the attraction should be given a chance before judging, Disney just need to give us a reason to :D

Often when beloved rides are closing or getting a retheming, there's a lot of negativity around it. People will rain on the parade every step of the way because they're salty about the change. That's just how it goes.

For folks who haven't already decided they don't like the rethemed ride, I say hold judgement and just wait and see how you like it when you ride for the first time.

I'm all for the retheme - I just want it to be good and not...not that! 🤣

Now I'm wondering if you'll be able to opt out of daily service in exchange for a $10 per day Disney gift card, like before
SAME! I always opt out of housekeeping because I tend to scatter everything everywhere when I’m on vacation and I take the bedding all apart, so I don’t want to have to wrestle with it after a long day (that probably started at 2am since I’m usually there for runDisney events).

What, you don't want to pretend to have the glamorous job of working on a food co-op? 😉
When I first saw this, I really thought they were joking.

If something can/does happen to me at work or running errands on a hectic Saturday, it's a safe bet that it's NOT something magical/escapist that I want to ride at Disney.

So, dancing dwarves in a gem mine? Count me in! Singing fish in an underwater oasis? Yep. Space roller coaster? Safari? Riding a banshee in Pandora? Downhill Everest? Singing/dancing lions? Star Wars characters? Toys coming alive? All YES!

Food co-ops and restaurant startups? Hard pass.
