Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Same here. Modern gaming has gotten so bad that I wait 10-12 months before buying any AAA game. The bugs + performance issues will be fixed, maybe some DLC will have been released and the game will cost be $20-30.
I’m still ‘patiently’ waiting for Nintendo to provide a new update for a game they teased was coming a month before Disney officially announced Tron was coming to the Magic Kingdom back in 2017. Last news on it came in 2019 when they went back to the drawing board on it. Lol

True, but one thing you can say for Nintendo is that when they finally do ship it, it will be pretty polished and performing well on the hardware!

Well, when or if that game comes out, you'll know for sure that it won't be getting any discounts just like every Nintendo game ;)

Good god do I hate modern gaming sometimes. I rarely get things at launch because of the prices but this sort of thing doesn't help.

Yep, I still have a big backlog on PS5 games and I'm typically months behind before I install them. Jedi: Survivor was the rare exception and I'm now reminded why it's better to wait til things are fixed. I also buy physical copies and used to some larger patches, but for a single player game a required 100+ GB download is insane. EA should have included a second data disc. From what I've read, only the opening tutorial mission is included on the disc and the rest of the game still needs to download.

Even the PS5 version is suffering some issues, including crashes. Apparently "performance mode" is anything but, though "quality mode" works better at a closer to stable 30 FPS. I agree that these games are getting out of control - finish it before you ship it!

That's what I'm seeing ... quality mode actually has better performance than 'performance' mode on my PS5, and even then it still can't run at a locked 30 FPS. And nothing better than being 20 minutes or more in, getting a hard crash before reaching a meditation point ... happening repeatedly!

This game has a huge amount of promise, but it's back to the Dead Space remake for now ...

100 GB WITH the disc? Man....

Quality is worth it.
And actually, there are discounts if you're patient. Target used to do but two Nintendo games, get a third half off or something like that. Black Friday discounts...

But yeah, Nintendo discounts are not so frequent. On the other hand, the games retain value rather well if you're okay with parting with it down the line!

As an update ... I'd say wait this game out for some patching! I installed the physical PS5 version earlier and was greeted with an additional 140 GB download! For PS5, the game looks nice, but it's a bit of a mess for me on both performance and quality modes. Game crashes and and frame rate issues even in the cut scenes. I'm sure they'll eventually fix things down the line as Fallen Order had issues at launch as well. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised EA would launch a game in such a sad state?

Sounds like the PC version has even bigger launch issues:

It’s been pretty solid on XBox Series X, very large initial download as well, though.
