Disney Tunes- Tops in 2005
December 7- A number of Disney songs and soundtracks are now up for nominations in the Tops in 2005 pop music awards. A total of sixteen Disney soundtracks are up for consideration for “Favorite Soundtrack” including “Music Inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia”, the Inspirational Soundtrack to the highly anticipated film from Disney and Walden Media, the gold-certified soundtrack to “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement”, and soundtracks to animated classics “Beauty and the Beast” and “Lilo and Stitch”. In other categories, Disney Channel stars Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano, EPCOT favorite American Vybe, and a number of songs and artists featured on Walt Disney Records’ popular Disneymania and Radio Disney Jams series also received a number of nominations. From the current nominations, the categories will be slimmed down to 5 nominations each this month before the actual ballot is finalized and put online on January 1, 2006.

This year marks the second for the “Tops” awards. In 2004, the awards were promoted throughout the web including on the official web sites for Atlantic Records and pop sensation Ryan Cabrera. I think that Disney doesn't get enough credit sometimes for their soundtracks. I love them all!!

Nominations ended the the Awards and Disney dominated the Soundtracks category by taking all five nominations in it- "Mulan", "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement", "Music Inspired By the Chronicles of Narnia", "The Princess Diaries", and "The Lizzie McGuire Movie". The voting has begun and one of them will receive the Award for Best Soundtrack on January 21.
