Maybe it has always been like this, and I just haven't noticed.

We went to Six Flags Great America for a few hours yesterday. For the first time this year, we stopped in one of the souvenir shops. Besides all of the Six Flags and Looney Tunes merchandise, we saw quite a bit of Disney merchandise -- Pooh, Tinkerbell, Mickey, Goofy, etc. There were shirts, plushes, all sorts of stuff?

Have the Six Flags parks always carried Disney stuff? Or is this a sign of things to come?? (One can only hope!!)

Wow! I've never heard of this before!

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. When we went to Six Flags last month, we didn't go into any of the 'gift stores' so I don't know what our local one is doing. All I know is that I kept seeing commercials advertising 'TEN GREAT NEW RIDES!' only to find out they are rides geared more towards smaller kids.

The Six Flags here in NJ has the same stuff. The only thing I can say that would explain it is that those store could be independently owned, sort of like the restaurants in WDW, and they basically stock their own merchandise. I haven't been in there to buy anything, but did see the large displays of Disney on one side, and Nick stuff on the other. I will hit up the stores at the end of the Six Flags season, because you can pick up things at 60% off.

Out local 6 Flags attraction (Wild Waves) had some Disney Licensed merchandise and when I examined it, it looked like it was Licesened Characters, not Disney Merchandise, if you follow the distinction.

Ours only carried the Looney Tunes/DC comics stuff as I recall. I don't remember seeing any other characters and since I'm always hunting for Sylvester things, I imagine that I would have noticed.

We're going to Kentucky Kingdom next weekend (sept 23/24). I'll check it out and report back.

Am I the only one who thinks Six Flags diminishes the branding of Disney? This is really strange news to me.

Yes, I do, but its only licensed merchandise that can be bought anywhere.
