Was thinking about joining the club. After my initial purchase, what are the average prices of the movies that I'll need to buy to fulfill my commitment? Thank you!

The best way to fulfill your commitment is to wait until you want the movie of the month. Those are discounted but they do count toward commitment.

We love our movie club. I agree with the PP about waiting until the feature that month is what you want. This month we got 2 movies in our feature and they were the same price. I'm hoping next month is the new Planes movie, which we would be buying anyways. We order others at a deep discount as well, but I'm not sure if the discounted ones count towards your commitment.

I have a question about the movie club as I was thinking of joining, do you earn the Disney Movie Rewards on the movies you not only get for free but also the ones you buy for your commitment? And, do they offer 3D blu-rays of some of the titles?

I don't know about 3D blu-rays, but we get blu-rays with our subscription and you definitely get DMR for all eligible titles, even the free ones. I know some movies don't have reward codes in them, but everything I have received from the movie club has had them.:thumbsup2

realistically I firmly believe that the DMV ends up costing way more than just buying on sale when you find it.....:thumbsup2 you end up with a 2 year commitment (yes, you had better respond,to avoid getting the 'pick of the month') and the shipping costs are not cheap.... Yes, I did get a couple of small 'rewards' using the program, but overall not worth the hassle. I ended up just buying the movies I wanted as fast as I could, to end the subscription and hassle. And I didn't save any money over just waiting and buying from the store.( I am not complaining, I got my dvd's I wanted, just not worth all the extra trouble)

Yes, Blu-ray 3Ds are offered on the featured title (if they are available)...and DMR points are inside each package.

Have to agree with this. I tried it and never did see any wonderful savings that were worth the hassle. Most of the new movies were cheaper that first week they were out at Target or Walmart.

The movie club is great if you need to replace or start your collection. Yes prices are cheaper the first week a movie is out. Also I have seen Costco have deals on movies that also make it cheaper. With that said that is only specific movies and may not be the ones you want.

It is a bit of a pain to remember to cancel any unwanted movies. It has happened 3 times now and I am done. Sure you can return with a shipping return fee of course. If you are diligent though it can be worth it. There is usually value in the movie of the month. One of the movies I got on accident came with 400 movie reward points. So I was on my way to getting another 'free' movie. All in all I like the movie club, but we are ready to cancel for now.

To answer your question about the price of the movie to meet membership agreement, It is $29.95-$39.95 (blue ray subscription) depending on the movie and if it comes with Digital. It has been awhile but I do remember getting all of our movies with agreement for the $10-13 range. Of course we got free Frozen tickets with several of our movies so I factored that in. That is another bonus as some movies will come with free movie tickets!

I just joined the DMC for the first time and got 9 blurays and an Olaf blanket for a total of $76.80, which works out to about $8.50 per movie. The Incredibles 4-disc set alone is around $30-35 at other places, so I figured I might as well go for it.

The way to get a good deal out of it is to wait for a good code (I used a code that only required me to purchase 3 movies at full price -- the code is 30058 -- but some codes require 4 or 5 full-price movies) and to be a little patient when it comes to sales like free shipping or buy 2 full-price get 1 free.

My initial order was for 5 movies for $1 total, an option to buy a 6th movie for $8.95, and then an option to buy a movie that counted as a full-price commitment for $11.95. So that was 6 movies and the free blanket for $22.90. That left me with needing to buy 2 more blurays that cost $29.95 or more. Which might sound like a lot compared to what you could pick it up for at Target or something, but when it's averaged with the rest of the movies, it works out. The key is to not stress that you're paying a bit more for the last 2 movies and remember the overall cost.

I am finishing mine off with Captain America Winter Soldier ($29.95) and a pre-order of Maleficent ($24.95, but still counts for the required full price movies because it's a pre-order deal). With the current free shipping promotion, that is my remaining 2 movies for $54.90.

Once Maleficent gets to me, I can cancel my membership, or leave it running (which means I do have to remember to decline monthly featured titles or they will automatically send them, but you get an email and can do it quickly online). There's no 2-year commitment, you just have to buy the required full-price movies within 2 years. Once you do, you can cancel, no big deal. :)
