Disney Marathon ?

Does anyone have any experience of being at WDW at the same time that the Marathon is held?

I was wondering how the marathon affects the rest of the park?

Are the parks/resorts extra crowded?

Is getting around the Disney property a problem on those day?

Yes, depending on the time you might be stopped in traffic. We were heading from SSR to AK for breakfast at approx 9 am last year and were stopped for approx 10 min - wasn't awful. In a previous year, we were actually delayed entering the MK for a few minutes as the last of the runners came through - they were running out through the front entrance - kind of neat to watch.

We were there last year during the Marathon, we really didn't run into any problems except for some confusion on the bus schedule to the parks. We were waiting for a bus to AK for about 1/2 hr but it never came. Then a driver pulled up and told us because of the Marathon we had to go to the TTC and transfer there. So I would check with your resort to see if there are any changes that day. The parks weren't too bad. We watched the runners going by AK. The weather was great. Have Fun!

We were at POR in January during the marathon. We notices nothing with parks or transportation. A running club was staying at POR and we saw a meeting going on and few runners out and about. There was an air of anticipation at the resort, but the only thing it impacted was Boatwright's. Glad we had ADR. There was a five hour wait one evening because most didn't have an ADR. Wouldn't even give marathon weekend a second thought, it was no big deal at all.
