Just got back from the Disney Marathon, I was a spectator/supporter not a runner, but there was a long time DIS'er that did compete.

I wanted to congratulate the following:

Tennisnut - aka Susan - She completed the 1/2 Marathon (13.1 Miles) and finished in the top 1/2. WAY TO GO!!!

Tennisnut's DH - aka Tim - He completed his first ever FULL Marathon (26.2 Miles) and finished in the top 1/4. Another WAY TO GO!!!!!

and finally to my DW - aka Suzanne. This was her second Disney Marathon and she finished in the top 1/3. WAY TO GO!!!

Congratulations to Susan, Tim and Suzanne and to all of the 20,000 plus runners. This was great event and it was lots of fun cheering them on and then chasing after them on the monorail and busses.

Congrats Susan, Tim & Suzanne...!!!

Way to go...!!!

We saw Tim and Susan at the Contemporary on Friday night...they were warming up by pin trading!!! Is there another way?????

Ok Scott, are you up for next year????

Way to go you 3.... Scott is buying dinner!!!:D :D :D

Congratulations to the runners! I think I can only run as far as the pin cart!

congrats! I'm afraid if I ran my knee would require more surgery. :-/

Donna,

I have been thinking long and hard about that, and I am really tired now. So, I don't think I will attempt a Marathon, 1/2 Marathon or any other running event. However Disney is gonig to have an in-line around the world event. You get to in-line roller blade around WDW. I am thinking about doing that though. Its their first annual event. We'll have to see. But running to pin carts is all the running I am going to do on Disney property.

the inline event sounds great doesn't it? I'd love to do that.

I'm seriously considering trying to train and run in the 1/2 marathon next year. My knees are very bad, but I'd like to try. I'm going to make my decision in the next month or so.

Congrats to Susan, Tim and Suzanne!

Congrats to the runners! My girlfriend ran the full marathon. She called me between mile 7 and 8 and woke me up (forgot about the time difference). I tried to call her back, but I think they confiscated her phone. :) I still haven't heard from her, so I have no idea how she did!

Congratulations to T-Nut, Tim and Suzanne and also to Scott for being able to keep up with them, even if he wasn't running. I have always admired the committment that marathoners must have.

Scott, thanks for that link. Unfortunately I won't be in shape by March to do 13.1 miles yet. I'm hoping that I'm ready by next year. (whew, it's gonna be tough!) Gotta lose that baby weight.

And my DH, Blaine, completed the marathon! :) He was happy with his time -- just a few minutes over 4 hours. He said if he hadn't stopped to use the john he could have broke 4 hours. ;)
He ran the entire course (no walking). This made him very pleased with himself.
:bounce:

Congratulations to everyone who participated! Barb, I'm sure Blaine appreciates you telling everyone why he didn't run in four hours or less :)!!

Tim and I had a wonderful time at the Disney Marathon.

When I got home the computer had gone ker floonie floonie and I have been trying like mad to get it to come back. The only thing left is the laying of hands. I talked to a Dell rep last night from 9:30pm-midnight and he was in the Phillipines!!! I could barely understand him! Anyway, it's not fixed so more talking to the Phillipinian in the future ...ick. I have finally found my password and am on my trusty laptop. I think everything is lost on the big computer. Oh well, on to the Marathon.

It was REALLY dark loading the bus at 3:45 am Sunday morning of the Marathon. I could not believe I was actually running a half marathon....I'm a TENNIS player!

My funniest experience was watching a woman grabbing a tongue depresser full of petroleum jelly from a volunteer ( the volunteer was yelling ..."don't take the popsicle stick.....) and I guess thinking it was gu or power gel , promptly putt the whole glob in her mouth. All of us broke out in laughter. She quickly realized what she had done and ran spitting all the way. I was laughing so hard that I don't even remember mile # 6!
One girl had a sign on her back " tell me I'm pretty". I bet she was ready to punch the next person that told her that by mile 26 :).
I got all misty when I passed a cancer survivor and the Teams in Training had all the fans.
I loved running through the castle ...way magical.

Tim and I had a wonderful time and it was great sharing it with Scott and Suzanne. I couldn't wait to call Scott on his cell and say " IM FINISHED. I wore my Donald Duck medal all around Epcot that night. Oh and Sandy ( I had a No Way Jose after the race and it was the best ever).

I recovered a lot sooner than Tim :).

I am sorry I didn't get to meet Barb and her DH ( Love2roam?).

But....Congratulations to Benny ( Eeyore67's DH ) Yippee! We finished!

Susan
