Just returned from water stop red 2 mile - handing out water - that turned to ice as you held it!!

Great fun being with the WISH team - looking to cheer on WISH'ers running!! But we did try and warn runners - Water - get your slushy water - Water - Ice is free - Ice cold water, get your ice cold water!!

For the past 2 days I think I've worn more layers than when I'm home!! It just feels colder in Florida!! Brrrrr!

At least the sun is shining - hope they figure out the busses today - I'm sure there was more than one case of hypothermia (coming off the race some runners didnt look good at all - medics would get them warm then make them stand in a HUMONGOUS line for the bussses... 1 long snaking bus line - people just shuttled along....)

At water stop Mile 7, we were totally out in the elements. We were trying to setup the cups and they were being blown off the table, so you had to hold the first few cups and then pour water into them one by one to set up your barrier. Hard to to all that when your just cold. Our fingers were soooo cold and our toes and then feet. Got table set up and helped another table and then they let us go sit on the warm bus to heat up again. Handing out the "Ice" water was hilarious, I am sure not for the runners, but the powerade and water both had ice in them. Had to squeeze the water cups to break the top layer of ice.
We were saying the same thing, get your ice cold water here, slushy anyone.
I was pretty much shivering the last hour, was very commical.

Our site was pretty well organized and maybe just a bit better than last year.

I guess this will make everyone appreciate the heat and humidity at future runs. I really feel for the runners and all of you who helped out. Hopefully no major health issues will result from the cold. Kudos to you all!:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the volunteers. It was great to see happy faces during the course. It was a shock the during the first sip and getting a mouth full of slushy. :lmao:

I am here to say a BIG thank you to all the volunteers who stood out there. Especally those at the water stop - that water and powerade must have froze your fingers. All I know is appreciated the slushy powerade. It made it something to look forward too. The runners around me seemed to appreciate the ice water and powerade.

I made sure I walked through the water stops because the road was way to slippery with the ice. I also made sure to thank alot of the volunteers - they make it worth it for us being out there - I truly appreciate them all.

All I can say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I was thinking about all you as we passed. Can't believe the ice on the road at the water stops. I was just skating through.

At least the water and Powerade was cold this year :)

Thanks again to all the volunteers!

Obvously Kudos to the volunteers. I for one thought the weather was great in most aspects sans the icy roadways. But then again that is one of those things you deal with. I know that since the weather was cool to cold for us it must have been frigid for you folks. Given the choice I would chose today over any hot year out there; though 2006 is just a little more preferable since the temps stayed above freezing.

After spending 3:30 hours in medical this morning because I had hyperthermia and frostbite on my feet I would rather have a hot marathon any day.

The volunteers this weekend deserve to have a medal for standing out there for so many hours.:worship:

After spending 4 hours on my bike on Saturday playing Medic, the only patient I had to treat was........... uhhhhh, myself.

I completely lost feeling in my feet (from being soaked in icy cold water on the course), and whenI took my shoes off, my feet were (literally) purple with little to no cap refill time. Since i WAS a "medical" guy, it would have been rather embarrassing to be seen in the treatment tent, so I hid in the back of the "supply" side until I had gotten my feet warmed and pink and feeling ok (ahhhh, the miracle of chemical heating packs).

Huge thanks to everyone that volunteered.. I enjoyed every cup of slush I received.. I can't even imagine standing out in that cold for that long

Thanks to the volunteers! Even though I got brain freeze from the slushies, I defintely used the water stops much more than I expected.

And on Saturday, I volunteered at the half. Too bad the toe warners I brought didn't get warm til later that night! I actually took the hand warmers out and put them in my shoes!

A big :thanks: to all of the volunteers. I cannot even imagine how cold you must have been standing there handing out freezing cold drinks! You guys totally rock! :thumbsup2

What crazy weather that was. I never expected to hear "Watch out for the icy road!" on the WDW marathon course!

I honestly think volunteering at RWS#2 was worse than running on Saturday! Holy moly it was COLD out there!!! No wind break in the middle of the EPCOT parking lot. And those vinyl gloves made our fingers sooooooo much colder! But hey, it was worth it tto see our teammates out there giving their all! :thumbsup2

Thank you all so much!! The slushie Poweade was delicious. The icy cold water almost hurt my throat it was so cold! I can't imagine being in that weather to volunteer - I don't know how I would have gotten out of bed that morning if it weren't for the thought of getting those Mickey ears!

Thank you for the all the volunteers. I had a great time especially the slushing powerade and water. This was my first marathon and not my last at disney.
