IT's a more limited sort on results ie you have a better chance of hardware. Other than that not much else.
Note I would not wait too long to change over to the Goofy. I am not so sure that the upgrade is allowed except for last year when the Goofy was re-opened. If you are serious, I would call Disney Sports this week to verify
Thank you! I've been talking this over with my wife, and I really want this experience to be all about her. She's gotten the running bug and gotten pretty serious about running, and I definitely want to support her. She and a group of ladies have registered for and are now training for a local 5K in March, and she will continue to build on her base from then, with her ultimate goal being to run the half with me in 2011.
I would love to do Goofy, but I don't want to be selfish about this, and I want her to keep the motivation for running. When we first got married 12 years ago, I was a lot more serious about running and a lot faster, and she wanted to start running with me then. Back then, I was more about the performance of it all and setting PRs and I didn't want to hinder my own racing, but now I'm totally stoked that she wants to start running!
I can do a local marathon in February if I want to, is my thought. I want to totally enjoy the half with her.
But, appropos of this topic, I can still do it as a Navy veteran in that military division. Maybe I'll get something different and memorable on my bib or something, and I can wear that on my Navy PT shirt when we run.
Overall, there's just very little explanation on what exactly the military division is all about; in fact, what you just told us is more than you can get on the official Disney site.
