Disney Magical Express Questions

Hi. My DH and I are planning on going to Disney in September. Because of our work schedules, I was planning to go a day earlier than my DH. We were also thinking about renting a car that my DH would pick up and drive to the hotel when he gets there the following day, (we like the flexibility of driving to/from the parks, and taking side trips during our stay).

So, I have some questions concerning using Disney Magical Express:
Does anyone have any experience with signing up for DME and only one of the two in the party using it?
And, is it possible only to use DME on the way to the hotel, but not for the return trip to the airport?
I've read older threads that indicated the pick up and travel time from MCO to Disney is long - some people getting to their hotels 2 or so hours after landing at the airport. Is this still the case?

Thanks!

Absolutely no problem with this. Just reserve DME one way. When the tags arrive, just set his aside. It is no big deal if he doesn't use them.

On your departure, just hop in your rental car and head back to the airport.

One thing that might make both of your trips easier is if you can go ahead and check luggage for both of you when you go. (If you only need one bag each.) That way all of the luggage is brought to the resort by DME. Then when he arrives the next day, he can skip baggage claim and go directly to the rental car counter and get to the resort.

The average reported time from plane departure to arriving at a Disney Resort has been 70 minutes. Your bags should arrive in your room about 3 hours after you get to your Disney resort.

Thanks Carol! That's great to hear. I was hoping to use DME instead of having to use a taxi or shuttle but wasn't sure I could. This helps.

You also have an excellent suggestion about checking my DH's baggage too. I wouldn't have thought of it. That will save him time and allow him to skip the lines in BOS as well as once he gets to Orlando. He's thinking of taking a late flight that gets him into Orlando after 10pm so everywhere we can save time is great.

Thanks again. Your answers have helped a lot!
