We are flying in to Orlando International, but renting a car and visiting friends out of state for a few days first.

We will then return the rental car to the airport and take the DME to our resort.

I am trying to do the online booking for the DME and it is needing a airline/flight number for our arrival day.. but we are driving in to the airport. Should I just put any airline/flight in to get the reservation started?

Also - We are leaving in a few days, so do they mail stuff for this? We will be gone before anything could get here in the mail. Short planning on the trip...

Just trying to find some info on this. I appreciate any help!

We did something similar... but instead of taking the rental back to the airport, DH dropped us off at the hotel, we checked in and then he dropped it off to a rental place on property. They brought him back to our hotel for free. I think they charged us a small fee for the change, but I don't recall what it was.
It saved us a lot of time - especially since we would have had to go past WDW to get back to the airport. It might be worth a phone call to see if your rental company has another return site you can use.
You can still use the DME to get back to the airport at the end of your trip even if you don't use it at the beginning.
Good luck!

You should post your question on the Transportation board (just one down from this one).

My husband did this exact thing a few weeks back. I think he called. He picked up my parents at the Amtrak station, dropped off his rental at the airport and they all took Magical Express to the hotel.

I've done something similar. You might just put a flight for the day you return the car to the airport at a time close to when you will make the drop off.

They usually do send you the DME tags (sounds like you won't need these) and a voucher for the bus but you won't have time. You'll probably need to check in to the ME desk and tote your bags.
