Disney Magic - Nov 10, 2012 - Western Caribbean from Galveston - Sun, Fun & Beaches!

Congratulations for those that got Mickey mail today.

As far as the Navigators are concerned, there can be some changes, but I have found that recent Navigators are a pretty good indication for what is offered and timings. A good tip is bring highlighters (a different colour for each person) so that you can mark what everybody wants to do. One Navigator is delivered to the cabin, but extras are available at Guest Services so if you want a Navigator for your scrapbook, you can always get an extra copy.

I have finalized our plans for this cruise. In the end, two beach days did not appeal after all and I managed to find a excursion to Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park on Grand Cayman through a UK based company. We are both birdwatchers and Graham really wants to see Blue Iguanas so this just seemed perfect.

In Cozumel, we always planned to go to Chakanaab and that has not changed. However, I have made up my mind that I want to do the Manatee Encounter there. I did one of the dolphin programmes there last time and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

My DGS, who will be staying in my stateroom but does not live with me, received his cruise package on Thursday. My DD, DSiL & DGS, who are in a different stateroom that is linked with mine, received their cruise package yesterday. I was beginning to think that I would have to stow away in their luggage, but I received my cruise package today. Four weeks and we will be cruising!:cool1:

The Fish Extender list is now closed.

I have just PMed/ emailed everybody with the link.

Tower,

My newbie status doesn't allow me to send you a Private Message and the rest of the board doesn't need me posting 8 more stupid posts so that I can answer your question.

we are probably going to take the Disney transfers-I don't think that the upgrade to the 10 person van-will save either of our families the money-so I'm hoping that you haven't booked it yet. I don't get on here very often...kind of confusing to me. but I appreciate the offer to ride with us.

Thanks

Susan

We have all received our Mickey mail for all the cabins. One of out inside GTY cabins is still unassigned. Does anyone know when we could get the assignment?

Went on a tangent the past couple days with our FE gifts and I'm a little concerned about all the gifts (made individual bags). It's two of us and we'd like to keep it to one check-in bag and carry on any extra to save on baggage costs however not sure if we should pack our gifts in our check in bag or carry it on? Any suggestions from experienced FE travelers? :confused3:joker:

Hi. I will be joining y'all on this cruise. It will be myself(Jenn) & my DSis(Courtney). This trip is a college graduation gift for her. This is my 2nd Disney cruise, 1st was on the Magic in 2006. It will be Courtney's 1st Disney cruise. I am looking forward to a relaxing trip without the kids. I know the FE is closed, any other activities being planned? Less than 30 days, yipee!

Hello  and welcome! There is information about a possible meet up a page or two back. Other than that I don't believe anything has been planned yet.

Edit: page 21

Hi everyone! Just over 3 weeks till we set sail, and I am getting so excited!! My daughter (age 6) and I were making some port plans and she asked if any kids would like to make a plan to have a sandcastle building contest. I said I could pose it to the group and see if anyone is interested. She has never been to a beach, and has no idea what to do, but she is determined to build one. =) Anyhow, I would be willing to pick up some little medals for prizes, and there would be one for every kid. We could award each participant based on their own elements (best use of seaweed, largest moat, most seashells used, etc.) Anyhow, we have pretty much decided to have a beach day at a port, but are flexible which one, so we can coordinate with any families that would like to hang out together and let the kiddos play. We have all ages in our party of 5 (from 6-65 years old).

My family will be on the cruise. Shane 41 Dana 38 at arrival 39 around Cozumel time and Jenny 8. We are first time cruisers and we can't wait! We ordered a FE and small gifts to share. My daughter has no idea yet so I'm thinking of a fun way to surprise her. Any tips?

Normally they try assigning all cabins by the time they issue the cruise documents. They can assign them as late as at the port.

It really depends. I have often packed my Fish Extender gifts in the carry on as long as no liquids/ gels were involved.

So exciting to have a little one that doesn't know!! I am a little jealous, actually. Our daughter (6) helped me plan everything. Anyhow, if I were to surprise her, I would have told her absolutely NOTHING until the day we were leaving... I'd just pack everything and load it in the trunk without her seeing, and tell her we were going to the store or something, and then once she started getting curious because we were taking a different route I would maybe start by asking her what she would think about someday taking a cruise, ask how much fun it would be, etc... then just say "ok, let's go right now!".

I'm still trying to figure out a clever way to tell our daughters (10 and 7). We're going to pick them up from school on Friday 11/9 and head to the airport. I'm thinking of having a sort of scavenger hunt, with clues that they get by solving puzzles together. It may take them a while to figure out, bc I'm not even sure they realize that the Magic is going out of Galveston (this will be our fourth cruise, we have a "dummy" cruise booked on the Fantasy next year). They are going to go wild when they figure out about the cruise, then they are really going to freak out when they find out grandma is coming with us AND they're going to get to see their TX aunts, uncles and cousins when we get to Houston.

I'm going to take the clues in our carry on to the airport and let them work on it there. I will probably give them little gifts as they solve the clues....one of the last gifts will be a bunch of pins to trade (just bought a lot of them dirt cheap on eBay...girls will be thrilled!)

I don't think I can surprise pack with out her knowing. I bought her a pirate costume because i heard they have a pirate party onboard. I was thinking about giving it to her for Halloween and then when she gets home after trick or treating I want to give her a treasure box full of beads and princess jewels and chocolate coins etc with a hidden x marks the spot and under the x have a card or a picture or something so she will be surprised. just one thought.

I think a halloween surprise is fun!

That's an awesome idea! My husband and I are taking the day off work on Friday, so we will be packing that day (got my packing list already, and have been refining it). Since we have been on Disney cruises before, we have a pirate costume for one daughter and I just ordered one for the other daughter, even had her try it on and she didn't think anything of it. See, once you take them on one cruise, they kind of just expect it from there on! :rotfl:

I do like the pirate map idea, though, and may incorporate it into my clues. I'm going to have a cryptogram and maybe some math problems, too. I'm also printing up journal pages b/c their teachers want them to keep one while we are on the trip.
