Disney Magic - Nov 10, 2012 - Western Caribbean from Galveston - Sun, Fun & Beaches!

Hello All from Canada!

We are excited and glad to have found this cruise board!

We have signed up on the FE group and we hope we can bring some things from around our parts.

We have myself (34 M) and my wife (33 F) who have cruised on RCL three times and we have my in-laws (30M 24F) with their daughter/ourniece (6 F).

The two of us are flying down to IAH to spend some time with grand parents who live in Houston while the rest will be driving down and meeting us.

Welcome sparkshadow from a fellow Canadian! (Ok, the far south tropics to your locale!) Been to your parts a couple of times on business and it was where DW told me of our 'expecting' to be parents for the first time! Fond memories of Winterpeg!
I've updated the Roll Call at the top of page 5. We'll have to get together with a Canadian on deck and see if we can get the Argos trouncing the Blue Bombers on the Dumbotron!

I can't believe it's finally getting closer! I am so excited and looking forward to time away from work and getting a healthy dose of Disney fun.

Welcome on board. I have received your details for the Fish Extender exchange.

So Did We!!! The kids loved opening our Mickey Mail!

I was surprised that it came through the normal postal service. On previous cruises, the cruise documents always were sent through Fedex or UPS.

On our last cruise, ours came by Purolator as well, but we had a postal strike on back then, so it was no surprise to me to receive it via snail mail today. The cruise is still a month away.

On another note, I just spoke with DCL. I propose all of us meeting at 1:00PM (ship's time) at Rockin' Bar D on Sunday. The other bars are more restrictive on whether kids can come in, so those who want to keep their kids close, the kids are welcome! :)
I mentioned that the last time we had our cruise meet, it was in Lumiere's during the late breakfast period, but some families had their character breakfast at Parrot Cay at the same time slot so they missed it. Those that want a drink from the bar are welcome to have one, and it'll be a nice time for an hour or so. It will be more or less a drop in format as there was no reserving of the bar for our gathering.

Now, if someone wants to be creative and name our cruise, I can see about making a banner to hang on the wall. There may be others in the bar, so we can congregate close to the banner.
It's too late to go about getting lanyards with name tag identifiers, so I'll look into getting some name stickers to put on our shirts so people can write their screen name and real first name on the tags.

Sound good?:confused3

No cruise documents here yet. In some ways it still doesn't feel quite real.

The 1pm cruise meet sounds ok with us, but will everyone be on board by then?

Hi sparkshadow, we're also a family who has done several cruises on RCCL and are trying Disney for the first time. We've been talking about trying one for years, but for various reasons, put it off until they made it so easy for us that we couldn't pass it up. (We're in Houston, so we love cruising from Galveston.)

Garsh! I certainly hope everyone will be on board by then! We will be on the 2nd day of our cruise!:scared1:
We sail on Saturday, so I thought Sunday would be a safe day. It's a sea day so nobody will be shopping in any ports yet.

Sounds good to me!

Sunday sports question -- I know you can sometimes find football games shown on the ships. Anyone seen NASCAR races broadcast Sunday afternoons?

That's what I get for thinking about it when I'm half asleep! :upsidedow

All of our recent cruises, and all of our cruises out of Galveston in the last few years, have been Sunday to Sunday cruises, which is what had me confused. (And, of course, that makes perfect sense because RCCL leaves on Sunday, Disney leaves on Saturday.)

Ummm, maybe Cars will be playing on the Dumbotron?

I like the way you think! :) I'm social media person for a driver part time and wasn't really thinking about the race schedule when I booked the cruise. LoL I'm hoping to connect to the internet for a little bit that evening to get any results updated on our website, but it would be nice to see some of the race if possible.

That sounds fantastic. Count me in.

I initially had the same reaction. It took a little while to sink in that this is actually on the 1st sea day. I am so used to have a meet on embarkation day and the last two cruises we have been on set sail on a Sunday.

We are on this cruise too. Along with Me is DH, 2 girls (15 & 10) and son (12) This is our 4th Disney cruise. We booked it only a month ago. We though Disney had gotten a little out of reach for us but this was just at the right price! We did book Guarantee Room and we haven't been assigned yet. Has anyone else been assigned their room. I called Disney and they said it could be now to 1 day before the cruise before they assign them! I can wait!

Welcome aboard 'ljknecht' :) I've updated the roll call at the top of page 5. Where are you from?

I'm a nerd, I just spent 2 hours mapping out my week on the spreadsheet based on the first cruise Navigators. :)

How much is the weeklong Rainforest pass for one person and two, anyone know?

You are not a nerd for that - you must be my soul sister!!! Haha - that's exactly what I did when I posted the link :)

No docs yet but I hope they come today :) Funny that the Canadian folks have gotten theirs and those of us in the center of the US haven't! Get Glowing I realized I am not sure if you are the husband or wife in the picture so I guess you are either my soul sister or soul brother! Haha! Sorry about that. :rotfl2: Either way I like the way you think - if that makes us nerds - so be it! 4 weeks from today heading to Galveston woo hoo!!! :cheer2:
