Disney Magic - Nov 10, 2012 - Western Caribbean from Galveston - Sun, Fun & Beaches!

:wave2:
Hey Barry! Another addition to roll call! We are a party of 6. I will be traveling with my two darlins' and my friend will be traveling with her daughter and mom.
I'm Kathy and my DS is 14 and my DD is 12. Poor DH is staying at home to work:( My friend's DD is 12, also.
We have cruised the Magic before out of Port Canaveral and we couldn't be more thrilled to be sailing on her again. I will probably tear up when I board. We have taken lots of cruises out of Galveston on the other lines because of the airfare thing, but nothing compares to cruising with Mickey!

Greetings Kathy! I've updated the Roll Call spreadsheet, but photobucket is not letting me upload it onto their site. I'm guessing their site is down for uploads so I'll try again tomorrow.
Your DD12 may get along well with our DS11. :) It'll be fun just the same.

Welcome on board. I hear you about tearing up. This happens to me every time I see the Magic or the Wonder. We are staying right by the beach the two nights before the cruise and due to the time difference, we are usually awake by 5 AM anyway so I think I may head to the beach and see if we can see the Magic coming in.

Ok,
Photobucket Finally Came Through! The Roll Call at top of page 5 has been updated.

Ok, so this is my first post and I hope it turns out alright. I'll be spending some time catching up on all the messages on this thread. It's so exciting! I came across this because of looking up info on door decorations which led me to fish extenders. I will be sailing with my aunt and cousin along with seventeen clients (I'm a travel agent). I would like to do something special for their staterooms. Should I try the FE just within our group (just so its not so overwhelming) or give them the opportunity to expand to the group? I thought I might just make the FE's for each stateroom (seven).

Also, I'd just like to give a big "Thank You" to those who have posted their use of a travel agent. Yes, we are still around, and can help with travel. Looking forward to chatting and meeting you all. :wave2:

Welcome on board. Our Fish Extender Group is pretty small at the moment so I am sure it would be fun if your group just joined in with the main group. If you decided to go down this route, you can sign your party up through this link:

So far we have 7 staterooms taking part.

Another way to decorate your doors are with magnets. There is a fantastic cruise magnet thread here:

Here are a few examples of my doors fully decorated:

Hawaii cruise this year:

I normally always work with my fantastic travel agent, but because I booked this cruise on an interline rate, I am on my own this time.

Wow your magnets are amazing! Had question about lanyards. Should I bring extras from previous cruises or will the others in my group be getting them because I booked the room? Kinda of silly but if I don't have to pack them it would save room for my magnets that I plan to make! Lol Also never having done an FE I was wondering about how it works. How many gifts to bring and ect. Sorry such a newbie! Also if only two of our four cabins joins is that confusing. Thanks again...

Only people who have sailed before will get lanyards at check in even if they are sharing a room with a Castaway Club member.

No, it is not confusing at all if only two of the cabins join the Fish Extender exchange as each cabin joins in their own right.

As to how many gifts you bring, this is completely up to you. When you join, you make the commitment that you will deliver to each cabin once. You can either do a cabin gift or individual gifts or cabin gift plus an individual gift for the kids. Some people do more than once drop, but that is not required. Candy, something from you local area, home made gifts, things you can use on the cruise or things for Pirate night like glow sticks and temporary tattoos all work well. It does not have to be expensive or big and heavy. It is the thought that counts more than anything.

Welcome albergal! Great to have you, your family and 'friends' along for the ride! Tell your customers about this thread too so that we all can get to know them. It's all part of the fun!:yay:
Roll Call has been updated with information I have.

Just curious, do you have any solo travelers in your group? I am still deciding if I want to cruise alone. Family and friends aren't available to go.

Dolphingirl47: I Love your use of magnets! I'll have to make some for the group. And just for future reference, you can transfer a reservation you've made yourself to your favorite travel agent. There's just a form to fill out (before you make your final payment). That way you won't be on your own.

Tower: Thanks for the welcome. I will pass the info onto my clients so we can participate. BTW I've been to Mississauga a few times. So nice to get away from this Texas heat and enjoy a little icewine :)

I am cruising with my friends mom as my boyfriend can't go. I will be on my own most of the time as she is in her 70's and I am 35. We don't have too much in common.

I know that you can transfer normal reservations to a travel agent after you made them yourself and indeed I have done this on a couple of occasions. It is my understanding that it is not possible with Interline bookings. Still, the next two cruises are just normal bookings and my travel agents is handling those.

My dad will celebrate his 72nd birthday on the cruise, Nov 14, Costa Maya day. I am looking for suggestions of how we can celebrate. I was thinking of the Tropicante restaurant / beach I've read about here. But also looking for other ideas. My dad uses a scooter or walker to get around, so he needs something accessible. I know we can grab a cab to Tropicante and from the pictures I've seen on Trip Advisor it looks like he could have a shady beachside seat right inside the restaurant.

Any other ideas? I've never been to these ports, so I have no idea what to expect.

This is a big cruise for celebrating birthdays! Two of us in our party have 11/13 birthdays! :cool1: (perhaps I will get something shiny is cozumel to celebrate!!)
I'm so excited that the cruise is getting closer!

A party is definitely in order then!
On our first DCL cruise, all of us DIS"rs got together in Lumieres on the Sunday AM for a group breakfast for an informal meet n greet. We could do something like that and make it into a bit of a birthday recognition party too!

The following year, we took a Carnival cruise :( and I arranged one of the bars for our Cruise Critic group to meet up. There was no extra charge except any bar tabs our group had incurred.

Those are 2 options for a meeting together.

Our Dis group also arranged for lanyards as identifiers for those who were involved with the thread, but though most paid the purchasers back, not everyone did. Not everyone wore their lanyards too so it was just as hard to find our DIS buddies.

Anyone interested in a Meet and Greet?

I am still trying to decide if and when I want to go solo.
