Disney Magic- difference in 9A and 9C?

Hi...we are considering a cruise in march. I was quoted a price for 9A and a price for 9C. But, I have no idea what the difference is and I'm having a hard time getting DCL's website to pull up what I need. Also, when the TA says "9C is guaranteed"- what does that mean? Can anyone help me?

Most likely the difference is location. 9a would be considered more favorable location. Though in the end location is really subjective.

9C gty means you will get a 9C room or better at a later date.

The difference between a 9A and a 9C is location. 9As are forward on decks 5, 6, and 7. 9Cs are forward and aft on deck 2. Floor plans are identical.

A GTY booking means that you are guaranteed that you will be assigned to at least a 9C room. You could be assigned to any category room onboard from a 9C up. Chances are you will get a 9C, but it could be a 8A, or a 4, or anything in a higher category than a 9C.

9Cs are on deck 2 with one large porthole. 9Ds are on deck 1 with 2 small portholes.

We had a 9C room (im pretty sure) on deck 2 on the 11/3 Magic and loved it! We were near the mid ship elevators and the 1 big port hole was great. We'd definitely pick this room again!

If you want to pick your specific cabin than don't go with the GTY and pay the $100 to be able to pick your specific cabin. If you really don't care where you end up and want to save the $100 for use for something else then book the GTY. With a GTY you won't get your room assignment until about 30 days prior to sailing but could be assigned at any time.

The cabin sizes are exactly the same within that category.

We always stay on Deck 2 of the Magic...love the location for its convenience and there is nothing wrong with staying on Deck 2...you are not in steerage and treated exactly the same as other locations onboard.

So many people are leery of Decks 1 and 2 and they are great!!!

We stayed in a 9C in cabin 2024 (on the Wonder but the Magic is the same). Loved the large port hole window and the location on deck 2 near the forward elevators. Easy access to the Walt Disney theater just 2 decks up and the adult area just 1 deck up.

If you were near the midship elevators, you were most likely in a 9B.

In the "olden days" these were all categorized as cat 9. When the Dream launched, DCL applied the ABCs to the Magic and Wonder as well to make the categories correspond to the new ships and to increase revenue. Some people will pay for a particular location; others do not really care.

9CGTY means you will be in AT LEAST a 9C, but you are agreeing that you can be assigned to a nicer cabin. This is offered when all or most of the category you are choosing has sold out. DCL knows that some people will cancel--they will assign you to the 9C. If some don't cancel, they will assign you to a nicer cabin. While they do oversell a category, they NEVER oversell the ship. No worries that way (unlike some airlines!)

I'm thinking *IF* we do this cruise, we'll stick with the 9C and just see what happens.
