Really excited about being on the Magic which we love. Have sailed on her 5 times. Just got off the Dream and it is a nice ship but the Magic is my favorite. The Dream was so big. Had a great time but not the same feel as the Magic and the Wonder. Can't wait to see everyone in December.

Glad you had a good cruise. We are going on the Dream in Oct. But we were wondering if there is a certain "feel" to the Magic that the Dream is missing. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I forgot to mention... Would it be possible for FE exchange participants to note if anyone in their family has allergies (peanut etc), for gift giving purposes? Maybe it could be noted on the FE list...just something like "no nut products please" or "no sugar please"? Thoughts anyone?

Just thought I'd retract my earlier statement about how many staterooms still seem to be available for this cruise. I took a little more time today to actually see which cabins were open and for many of the categories showing as available, DCL doesn't actually have any room numbers to assign and are offering GTY. It looks like the cheaper cats (10s, 11s) are all booked but they are showing them as available to get additional bargain-hunting cruisers to book.

Oh well, I should have known that a half-empty ship was too much to hope for.

Okay, now what? Thank you to those doing the roll call and the vote info.

Want to add: for those of us doing the FE, it's sooooo helpful if everybody puts each person's name and the ages of the kids (18 & under or so). Sometimes people personalize their gifts, and you can't do that without the info. And for the ages, gifts are often going to be different for a 3 year old than for a 15 year old.

Getting really excited! Especially as it's getting colder here (in Michigan), I'm thinking about the cruise. What will the weather be like, and how excited I'll be to put on my flip flops again! I see lots mentioned about the dinner seating. We have the later seating, and we're happy about that. Fingers are crossed that the kids will be ok with that. Last cruise we had the later seating, but we had all just gotten over the flu & Noah (DS) went to sleep really early - even at the dinner table once! It was a 4 day Dream cruise. But usually we are night owls, so fingers are crossed.

Where is the best place to read reviews of the PA? We haven't booked anything yet, and still have no idea what we want to do. The first cruise we just went to Nassau & pretty much stayed on the ship (saw the straw market, but shouldn't have even done that).

Is there anyone around my DD's age? I know I could go through old posts to see, but figured this would be easier. She is 11, and would love to email some people before we go. We did that last time, and it was like she already had friends when we got on the ship. They still email now, and it was a really nice thing for her. If anyone is interested, send me a pm - or post here that you're interested and I'll send you a pm.

I think this is a really great idea, Sinderelly! Yes, I think the FE list would be a good place. Maybe Rose could add a "comment" cell on the spreadsheet. Participants could let her know specific requests pertaining to their cabin. (such as food allergies,etc)
I can also note that in the roll call if you guys think this is necessary.

Now that roll call is out of the way...

Thanks for the advice on the glass-bottom boats. I already had my eye on the sub, and I like the idea of the semi-sub, too. I am going to check out Cruise Critic and some other general cruise reviews so that I do not get trapped into thinking I can only choose Disney's.

So... DH thinks I am crazy... I am watching the Disney Cruise Line video on Netflix for the second time in a week. It's a bit outdated, but I love watching it because it focuses on the Magic and not the newer ships.

I am also starting to explore options on when to fly in, which airport, which hotel (if any), transportation... I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I like the idea of staying at one of the hotels near the airport that has a shuttle service to Port Canaveral built into the room rate. Or possibly booking a red eye flight that will arrive at MCO about 6:30 AM so that I don't have to take Friday off from work... but then what?? What to do in the meantime?

I guess what I'm asking is for an informal survey of what you guys are doing pre-cruise.

I guess what I'm asking is for an informal survey of what you guys are doing pre-cruise.

Our plan is to fly in late Thursday night and spend the next 2 nights at Disney World. We are DVC members so we have a room booked at the Beach club on points. We then get to do Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party on Friday night. It does involve taking Friday off but we get to do the Christmas Party.

I also have very young children so the idea of flying in the day of is too stressful. After pricing DCL transfers for the 5 of us at $30 a person, we have decided to go with a town car service. It will save us some money and we get to pick our times.

DH and I are flying into MCO on Friday. We are renting a car and driving over to Port Canaveral and staying at the Country Inn and Suites. We will spend the day shopping for some last minutes items for the cruise. We will probably have a nice seafood dinner and spend the evening relaxing.
