Disney Magic B2B Western Caribbeans, April 12-26, 2015 Trip Report, Navs & More!

Wow that Robert McGee story is just totally bizarre!! How could anything like that happen??????

We have no idea!! It was so strange! We are assuming (by we, I mean us and the cast member who helped us), that when they were trying to figure out why Jeremy wasn't a Castaway Club member, they may have put someone else's number in by mistake and attached their CC account to our reservation. The other option was that we were originally assigned to a different room for the first cruise, then they changed the room numbers to match for the second one. So maybe Mr Robert McGee was staying in the room that was originally assigned to us? It was definitely one of the more challenging things that has happened to us while on any type of Disney vacation. I have never even heard of anything like that happening...but the funny thing is, we would have never known had we not been taking another cruise...so Jeremy could have been merged with someone for who knows how long, and I really don't know what kind of trouble that could have caused.

Something that was strange to us, that could have been a clue was that during the first cruise, none of the photos of Jeremy ever showed up at Shutters. My individual ones were always there, as well as the ones of us together, but none of his we ever saw. So maybe Robert McGee got his photos too, I guess as long as he wasn't able to charge to our accounts or anything it turned out alright!

I know Jeremy had the GoPro but what waterproof camera did you end up using? Go Pro is great and all but my hubby and I are looking into a camera that has the display screen and also where you can zoom in (unlike the gopro from what I have heard anyways). I have a Nikon D3100 but its definitely not waterproof LOL

We ended up getting a Nikon Coolpix AW130. Yeah taking photos with GoPro is a fail for me...I don't really like it at all. We have pretty much decided to only use our goPro for sport type/active things where other cameras would be impossible. We were VERY happy with the Nikon camera. There are some bad reviews on it, but I think it was "user error" that caused most of them. There are pretty clear instructions for it, about how to make sure the seal stays clean, and how to make sure it is sealed properly. We used it at CC both days, in the water with the sting rays at Grand Cayman, riding horses in Jamaica. Had no problems at all and were very happy with the quality of the photos I got from it considering it is a point and shoot! I am excited to take it with us to Iceland soon! I would really recommend it! It seems to be an awesome camera! Oh and it takes HD video too, which is a great plus!

The name mix up is very odd!
What a lovely feeling it must be getting off the ship and getting right back on again.

Thanks! Just ordered it and the 3 year warranty off Amazon. Cant wait to try it out now!

Yeah it kept making me sing that song by Janis Joplin "Me & Bobby McGee"! :rotfl:

I have to admit, it felt really special. Everyone else was having to go home and I got to stay for a whole other week. It was really a unique experience to be a part of, I am not sure if we will ever do it again, so I am trying to appreciate it as much as I can!

Sunday, April 19th, 2015 - Part Two
At 5:00 we were still at Port Canaveral, and I remember not feeling the ship move until we were in our room, getting ready for nighttime activities!

PositionPortCanaveral_zpsvifqywht.jpg

Brave was playing on Funnel Vision, so we thought we would head up there and check that out for a bit. During first seating was such a great time on the ship for us, it was really relaxing to be up on deck with it pretty much empty!

JeremyFunnelVision_zpsd8zuibyi.jpg

We headed down to O'Gill's, our now usual spot to sit at the bar and hang out with Andys, we weren't planning on playing trivia tonight until we realized it was a different Disney Tunes Trivia than before! It was sort of a good thing we came down here when we did to grab a seat, because by the time trivia started the entire pub was full and there was only standing room! We ended up with a score of 28 out of 30 and won some awesome Disney Cruise Line Hats!! Our dinner rotation this week started with Lumiere's. So we stood and watched the Dreamers perform a bit before dinner!

TheDreamersPerform_zps1txbjcuq.jpg

Minnie Mouse was also making an appearance for photos!

MinnieMouseWave_zpsio1ozl64.jpg

Once the crowd had all rushed in, we headed to our lovely little Table 48! Last cruise we didn't do it, but this time we decided to get a wine package, We ended up getting the 3-night one which gave us 3 bottles of wine to drink over all 7 nights. Which was fine for us because we only ever drink about one glass with our entire meal. Maybe a little more.

Grand Marnier Souffle - Victor (because he likes to bring us extra food)

infused with Fresh Orange Zest and served with Grand Marnier Creme Anglaise
We had planned on going to O'Gill's after dinner, but after having Dramamine earlier, and wine with dinner, staying awake didn't really seem like too much of an option! We made it back to the room, saw Ebit's handiwork, he was the best Stateroom Host EVER, and then read over the navigator before falling asleep!

Next Up: First Day At Sea...Well For This Cruise!

Oh now I want the mushroom ravioli!
It looks yummy :)

Hopefully, it will taste better for you than it did for me, it looked delicious, but kind of tasted like Chef Boyardee. Which if that is what they were going for...they nailed it! So I mean it wasn't bad or anything, just not exactly what I was expecting...lol! :rotfl2:

Monday, April 20th, 2015 - Part One
This morning we awoke without an alarm at around 8:30 and rolled out of the bed to get dressed for breakfast up at Cabanas. We ran into Victor while we were going through the buffet line. We finished up breakfast and started heading downstairs to Ultimate Disney Trivia. It took us a bit to maneuver through Fathoms to O'Gills because they had the doors closed off due to some sort of filming going on. I wonder if we will eventually see what that was all about. We ended up only getting 12 out of 25 points in the trivia, this time we did not win. So you guys who are thinking, hey you were just on the last cruise doing trivia, don't worry...the questions were not the same. If they were, and we only got 12 of 25 right...we have some serious memory issues...LOL

We decided to make an easy day even easier. We went down by our room and picked up our books we had brought with us and went down to Deck 4 to read them for awhile. After enjoying the nice weather and shade for a bit we went up to Deck 9 to grab some Spicy Chicken Sandwiches for lunch. Then some ice cream!!

JeremyIceCreamTwist_zpsxsow2jhp.jpg

PineappleSwirliceCream_zps76r35gf3.jpg

I had pineapple, vanilla swirl...I was trying to remind myself of a Dole Whip...only without the pineapple juice I suppose! Next up on our lazy day to do list was yet another trivia in O'Gills. You guys seriously...I did not realize how much trivia we actually did on these cruises until I started reading over our trip notes...I feel like it looks like we were there all the time!! We did not so well yet again, 24 out of 50. I am not so good with any trivia other than Disney! After trivia we headed to the Walt Disney Theater for Buckets N Boards! I had recalled seeing one of the guys from the show, Matt, sitting with us in the concierge area before boarding.

BucketsNBoardsShow_zpsn6odccfu.jpg

The show turned out to be pretty fun, and we really enjoyed it! Later on we even saw Matt in the elevator, we let him know how much we liked their show and that we recognized him while we were waiting to get back on the ship at the same time he was. We headed back to the room to rest for a bit and my very nice husband gave me a pedicure while we were in there. We checked the TV to see where we were and it looked like we were headed straight for Havana!!

PositionHavanaCuba_zps02dp7otz.jpg

Tonight was our second formal dinner and yet again, it was in Animator's Palate! We were really lazy today, we just sat around the room watching Disney movies until it was time to get ready and head to dinner! Keep in mind that we ordered before he brought out all of the extra stuff...We each ordered 1 app, 1 soup, 1 entree, and 1 dessert.

Tomato Tarte - Andrea (Victor brought me two...for some reason)
with Glazed Goat Cheese and Radish Salad

Sliced Serrano Ham - Jeremy (Victor brought him a double portion as well...)

with Tomato Bread and Spanish Olives

Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes - Victor (because he likes to bring lots of food!)

Pasta purses filled with Truffle-scented cheese and coated with a Champagne Sauce

Baked Potato and Cheddar Cheese Soup - Jeremy

with Bacon Bits and Chives

Creamy Butternut Squash Soup - Andrea

garnished with Chives and drizzled with Sour Cream

Herb Crusted Veal Chop - Andrea

Roast Veal Chop brushed with Dijon Mustard and crusted with Herb breadcrumbs served with Sun-dried Tomato Risotto and a Borolo Wine Sauce

HerbCrustedChop_zpsywrocy9m.jpg

Ginger-Teriyaki Dusted Angus Beef Tenderloin - Jeremy

On Wasabi Mashed Potatoes with Bok Choy and a Tamarind-Barbecue Reduction

Black Bean Chipotle Cakes - Victor (He remembered how much I love these)

over Corn Kernels and Brown Rice topped with Tomato-Cilantro Salsa

Crunchy Walnut Cake - Both

Dark Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry Coulis

WalnutCake_zpsrucd7jqo.jpg

Chocolate Celebration Cake - Victor (Just Because I Guess)

So after those desserts rounded out our GIANT meal, I felt like Violet Beauregard in Willy Wonka...we also finished off our first bottle of wine from our package! Needless to say, we were so full and tired we ended up heading back to the room like fuddy duddys and watching Cinderella (the animated version) on the TV while we fell asleep. Not before we came into the room and noticed that the new alligator in the room had eaten all our other towel animals!!

Next Up: Seeing Cozumel Again...from the comfort of the Disney Magic!

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015 - Part One
Today was our first port for the second cruise, Cozumel, Mexico. We had planned for today to be a relaxing day by the adult pool at least until the afternoon when some more activities were scheduled. Last night we got to turn our clocks back one hour, so we got out of bed around 7:30 am ship time to find ourselves getting very close to Cozumel!

PositionSecondCozumel_zpsm7xvskmh.jpg

We went ahead and put on our swimsuits and headed over to Cabanas for our breakfast. We sat outside and enjoyed the view as we were making our way into Cozumel! I really love how vibrant the water in the Caribbean is! It is such a nice treat to see considering the water we have on the coast where we live is rather murky green.

ArrivalInCozumelMX_zps6jg0fyl5.jpg

AndreaPoolTimeSelfie_zpsa9koh84k.jpg

When we finished up with our breakfast we walked over to the pool area and found ourselves a very empty deck and had the pick of any set of lounge chairs we wanted! This looked like it was going to be about 1000 times better than trying to hang out at the pool during an at sea day!

EmptyQuietCove_zpsitbvvhtm.jpg

We had the pool to ourselves almost the entire time we spent there. Some people would casually walk over and read a book or lounge for a bit and then leave. We had pretty much private hot tubs, and the pool for the entire morning before lunch!

JeremyHotTub_zps7wr0hpmf.jpg

It was really nice outside, the pool was a tad bit chilly, but kind of like Castaway Cay, you get used to it really quickly!

AndreaColdPool_zpstarciqhm.jpg

You guys remember when I said yesterday it was a challenge to get around to O'Gill's because of the filming, well there was some filming happening on Deck 10 today! I never really recognized any of the people that were being filmed, it looked like actors dressed as crew members and things of that nature.

FilmCrewDeck10_zpscoea26p0.jpg

By now, we pretty much know that our favorite quick meal for lunch on the ship are the "Spicy Chicken Burgers" at Pete's Boiler Bites! For me, they are better than Bojangles Spicy Chicken Filet (if you know what a Bojangles is), they were also better to me than Wendy's Spicy Chicken Sandwiches. So, if you like spicy chicken sandwiches, I bet you would really enjoy these!

LunchTimeCozumel_zpsg2hdwwan.jpg

Once we finished up with our lunch we moved from Deck 9 to Deck 10, the shade was much nicer and there was a much nicer breeze up there. Jeremy continued reading his book and I just wanted to rest and relax since it was such a nice day out. At around 1:00 the AquaDunk opened up so Jeremy really wanted to go on it again. He went down twice I think, I spectated and then when he was done we headed back to the room. We decided to go ahead and do showers before it was time to head to O'Gills, for (You Guessed It)...we were going down for trivia!

Next Up: Magic on the Magic!

Again thank you! Another planning question answered, if we will be on central time or eastern time in cozumel.

Glad I could help! Yeah it was really nice to be able to get that extra hour going to destinations...it is a shame when they take it back away from us...haha! :goodvibes

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015 - Part Two
Know It All Trivia was scheduled to start in O'Gills at around 2:30, so after we finished up with showers we walked down there. I took the time to catch up on trip notes and Jeremy read his book while we waited on it to begin. We scored 13 out of 25, so at least we didn't lose this time around. We still did get a keychain though because not hardly any people were there. After we finished trivia we went up to sit at the bar with Andys for a drink. Jeremy got his usual and for once, I changed it up and tried out a Raspberry Mojito. Whoa the Mint...

RaspberryMojito_zpslz1smntw.jpg

I did manage to drink it all, even though it wasn't my favorite thing I have ever tried. As we were sitting there, Matt from Buckets N Boards came up to us, he remembered us from the elevator and the terminal, so we had a nice long conversation with him. He told us about his experience as an entertainer on the ships. How they were flying them out from Grand Cayman tomorrow to catch up with the Fantasy since that is where there next contract is. He showed us some photos on his phone. He is a really nice guy, and I hope we get to see them perform again in the future!

We paid our tab at the bar and then headed back to the room to change for dinner and the show, since we were actually going to another one! The show started at 6:15 as usual and tonight it was Magic Dave!

MagicDaveShow_zpsdtalcgv1.jpg

If we are in the theater...I always have to have popcorn. I am really a popcorn fanatic. I hardly ever eat popcorn at home, I mean we don't even have a microwave to pop those type of packets. I know you are thinking...who doesn't have a microwave...haha! Yeah, I am strange like that. I don't really like them. I think they make food taste...not so good...but anyways, moving on from microwaves...and back to popcorn...because Disney has the best popcorn EVER!

MoreFreshPopcorn_zpspkvwawxi.jpg

I tried to take a photo of Brent a few times and it was just too bright and he was moving around too much. I mentioned earlier that Brent was the Cruise Director on the last cruise, and of course again on this one...but you really can't tell at all from this horrible photo!

GlowingBrentDavies_zpsvnx0djnb.jpg

So the Magic Dave show was more of a comedy show than a magic show, however, the tricks he did actual do were pretty impressive!. After the show was over we went to...yep...again I know...O'Gills for Brainteasers Trivia. I think this time we had like 16 out of 25 so not too bad, but still not too good either. Jeremy was a little snacky so he grabbed some veggies and then around 8:05 we headed toward Carioca's for dinner.

AndreaDessertRaspberry_zpsasv4snm5.jpg

It was so funny while we were eating dessert, Victor and Yanupa made hats and fun little birds for us out of napkins, Victor was making fun of Jeremy so instead of a normal hat...he made him a bow! I think it was because he wanted a Mickey Bar for dessert...haha!

JeremysNapkinBow_zpsvtvuwqdv.jpg

I thought the birds that Yanupa made were really cute, she even told us to take them with us to our room so we could have them in there with all of our towel animals and things!

AndreaNapkinParty_zpsh63wrag2.jpg

When we got back to our room after dinner, we had a huge dinosaur towel animal waiting for us on the bed! We were really excited for tomorrow because we were headed on another DCL Port Adventure to go and swim with the Sting Rays at Sting Ray City on Grand Cayman! Oh and tomorrow is Earth Day, so we had a special Navigator! It was green and brown!

TowelDinosaur_zpswkej3uil.jpg

Next Up: Holding a Sting Ray in the wild is Pretty Awesome!

So fun reading thru these and getting updates so quickly! I actually like that! I have found two things funny/interesting:

1. You don't like the vendors in Cozumel so much. I LOVE THEM! Haha! BUT, we have never been "bugged" by them and I love several of those little stores with all the local stuff! We have been thru that port a couple of times and I think maybe have been asked if I wanted something once.

2. Your title for the next update...I HATED Stingray City! Sea MONSTERS! Haha! Actually I am just really bad in the ocean and it was choppy that day. I did not care for it at all. I pet the thing but I wouldn't feed it or let it massage my back. It was akin to this girl:

Can't wait to hear more! And I hope you put something up about your Iceland trip...we have several friends that RAVE about Iceland!

The food at Carioca's looks SO delicious, can't wait to eat there!!!

The food at Carioca's was really good! That very first night we ate there our selections weren't so great but we also felt bad. By the next time we got the regular menu there, we felt great and we took Victor's suggestions, so everything went over much better then! I hope you love it!~

I am glad you like the quick updates, we are getting too close to Iceland now, I might have to finish off the TR when we get back...eek!

I wish I had your experience of Cozumel, after reading what you wrote on my PTR I was really excited to go there and look around, but it was really just crazy, I don't know if it was just that day, or what time of day we went, I have no idea. I am sure we will go back eventually, because OMG that Grouper was the best thing ever. But, I really wish that I had been able to look around those shops in peace because it looked like there were a lot of cool things in them, but it was just way too hectic and at the time touristy which was giving me a headache...LOL

Noooo, Sting Ray City was awesome. I am sorry you didn't enjoy that. We had really nice everything while we were there, which will be in my next post, it was such a great day and definitely a highlight of our trip. But I can understand if you don't like the ocean and things touching you in it, at least the water was more clear than the pool water on the ship...lol That video made me laugh, I was trying to figure out if she knew or didn't know that the manatee was in there before she got in...haha

I was trying to figure out how to report on my Iceland trip because I want to, so I can remember it well, I thought about maybe putting in on my blog since there isn't really a random TR place on here, or if there is I didn't know about it. So I am not exactly sure how I will do it, but I definitely am going to write a TR for it. I have all of our cameras and my TR note journal all ready to go!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2015 - Part One
This morning I woke up a little on the early side and watched about the last 20 minutes of Monster University. We were still a little ways out from Grand Cayman, so I was trying to remember everything we needed to get together to take on our excursion today. We relaxed in the room a little while this morning, just getting things together and waiting to get into port!

PositionSecondGrandCayman_zpsh7c5tgte.jpg

At around 10:30 we were up in Cabanas getting our usual breakfast, it was fun watching the first tenders of people getting sent over and into the dock at Georgetown.

JeremySillyBreakfastGC_zps2clhsexs.jpg

We still had a little while before we needed to head out, our tour tickets let us know that we were to meet on the dock, not on the ship. We headed up to Deck 10 and played a little Foosball and Ping Pong. Jeremy did a little happy dance after he won a game! I guess because that doesn't happen very often...haha...sorry Jeremy!

JeremyWonFoosball_zps2ecu38pp.jpg

* All of the photos today from before dinner were taken with the Nikon Waterproof Camera. I like knowing what cameras people use and since I changed it up here for water stuff, I didn't want people to think I had my DSLR in the water...haha!

After we finished playing around we slowly made our way down to the Buena Vista Theater to pick up our tender tickets which would allow us to board one of the tenders and be taken over to the dock at Georgetown!

TenderTicket_zpslwszqy1t.jpg

I really enjoyed the little tender boat rides, I know that some people don't like them, but it is almost like a free little mini excursion getting to ride across the harbor before landing at your destination!

AndreaOnTender_zps910uv2xq.jpg

You also get a really great vantage point and photo opportunity with the Disney Magic, as well as the gorgeous water in the harbor of Grand Cayman!

DisneyMagicTenderShot_zpsdrqy43or.jpg

GrandCaymanWater_zpsvjhlrqbv.jpg

We had gotten over there quite a bit early for checking in to our excursion since we only had to wait maybe 5 minutes at the most to board the tender, so we sat and enjoyed the nice weather for a little while. We had already done the exploring around thing the other day, so we were going to purchase whatever we wanted to take back with us after our excursion. Once we could finally check-in we did and we were in the Rapunzel Group. Once everyone was ready to go we headed to board our trolley which was going to take us to board a boat, which was going to take us to Sting Ray City!

JeremyOnTrolley_zpsidc4lddl.jpg

The trolley ride took about 10 minutes and then we arrived at the marina where we boarded the Cayman Explorer and then started getting ready to be in the water, so basically for me, putting sunscreen EVERYWHERE! Jeremy wore his other rash guard, which actually is a rash guard...I think...still not sure on the whole surfing terminology thing!

jeremyCaymanExplorer_zps3qxxjohc.jpg

Our primary tour guide for this excursion was a guy named Bert, and he was awesome, so nice! He seemed so energetic about everything and really pumped us up for what we were about to experience! The boat ride took another maybe 10-15 minutes and we had made it...seriously you guys...this place was GORGEOUS!

ArrivalStingrayCity_zpsaexwplzf.jpg

Once we arrived we found that the area was not as busy as we had first thought, most of the boats that were there were packing up to leave, so we were really lucky. But really, even if it is busy, you could see there are plenty of rays for everyone to see, I mean they are everywhere! They don't call it Stingray City for nothing! Slowly we made our way into the water and it was fantastic, relatively no waves, not cold, just great! We had a little safety briefing of what to do and what not to do with both the male and female stingrays and a little history of how this area came to be the way it is today. We couldn't wait to start holding them and feeding them so we pretty much just jumped right in!

UsHoldingStingray_zps7ctbnfyu.jpg

JeremyHoldingStingray_zpsq9otwser.jpg

JeremyHoldingRay_zpse94bmz8g.jpg

AndreaHoldingStingray_zpsl25frmfv.jpg

After we had a little time with them, we got to feed them! They had a little floating bucket of squid around, and if you wanted they would give you a piece to hold, kind of poking out of a fist, that the sting ray could effectively suck out of your hand, it was pretty cool like a vacuum! Not many people in our group were too keen on doing it more than once, if at all, so we had plenty of opportunities to feed them! Here is a photo of the little squids we were giving them!

Next Up: Seriously They Are Everywhere...One Just Touched My Foot!

Thursday, April 22nd, 2015 - Part Two
I really could not get enough of these sting rays. It was crazy to me that they are all wild animals, yet they freely choose to come and interact with humans. I know it is for the food and everything, but I am sure they kind of enjoy being held and things too, because if they didn't you would think they would just try to get away from everyone, but they don't. They are literally on top of you all the time! Look at them all!

EverywhereStingray_zpshvrzqsy5.jpg

The water is still so clear even though all of us have been doing the sting ray shuffle so we don't step on them. There is sand everywhere but you can still see everything. It was pretty cool! They even graze by your feet every once in a while and your brain kind of tricks you into thinking something is attacking you, then you realize wait, everything is ok, it is just swimming around!

RayNextToMyFoot_zps2p2shsio.jpg

From the experience we had, I would recommend this highly. However, some disclaimers. If you do not really like swimming or being in the ocean at all, this probably would not be for you. If you are afraid of things touching you in the ocean, this may not be for you either. They were all very docile animals while we were there. We never felt even remotely threatened by anything at all. If you are adventurous, love the ocean and love animals, then I say go for it! It was seriously the best bang for our buck on the entire trip! After about 45 minutes or so it was getting near time to head back on the boat, but we stayed out for just a bit longer to get a few photos of the area! We did not go snorkeling, because I wear glasses and it just annoys me. We could have though, it was included with our tour. If I could see with contacts or had prescription snorkel goggles, it would have been a different story.

JeremyStingrayHappy_zps6ictx3mz.jpg

AndreaStingrayHappy_zpsczhlcqsh.jpg

As we were making our way back on to the ship our guide Bert called out to us, he had found a pregnant female ray, it was really interesting to see and you could feel the babies moving inside! I had no idea that rays had live births. It was a fascinating experience to be able to feel the babies moving around! With that, our time at Stingray City came to an end and it was time to board the boat and head back to the marina! We got dried off and I got a photo with Bert, he made the trip really special!

BertandAndrea_zpspsmc4zvg.jpg

I don't think the grin on my face could have been wiped off if you tried, we really had that much of a great time! It is something I think I won't forget forever. It even makes me want to go back to Grand Cayman right now! Oh and yes...see that door behind me? The boat had a restroom and refreshments! Sweet!

After the boat ride to the marina, and the trolley ride back to port, Jeremy and I walked over to the Cayman Island Museum. Remember that pepper jelly we had last week, well we came back and bought 2 jars. One for us and one for my dad, he likes spicy things like that! We also grabbed a Tortuga Rum Cake to enjoy! When we made it back out to the dock a tender was ready and waiting so we jumped on and headed back over to the Disney Magic!

We were a tad hungry when we made it back on board so we headed up to Deck 9 and grabbed us a few slices of pizza to tide us over until dinner. This time around I think Jeremy got pepperoni and I had the veggie just like last time.

We finished our pizza and went back down to the room, we decided that we would go ahead and start some clothes while we were getting showered and ready for dinner. I also grabbed my phone so I could call home and check on everything. Once our clothes were finished and we were clean and polished we walked down to O'Gills. Jeremy had a beer and I had a double shot of water. We listened along with Villains Quote Trivia but did not participate in this one. Tonight was the Prince & Princess Menu and we were in Lumiere's.

After dinner we headed back to the room, of course right! We had to get up a littler early tomorrow for our excursion in a port we have not been to yet! Jamaica Mon! We got back to the room to find what we "think" is a sea turtle towel animal? If it is something else please let me know! We thought it might be a sea turtle because of the whole Turtle Farm thing on Grand Cayman??

Next Up: Ya Mon...and the most interesting bus ride...ever.
