We Made It Home!!

Hi everyone! AAshleySEG here with my newest Trip Report. It was our longest vacation ever (17 Days), and we had an absolute blast! If you want to see our really short PTR and find a little more about us, here is the link for you!

Pre-Trip Report

For those of you that have read any of my Trip Reports before, welcome back!! I am so glad that you found me again! If you are new, let me tell you a little about us!

BestTripPhoto_zpssxuu5vlo.jpg

My name is Andrea! My DH Jeremy and I love pretty much everything about Disney! We are Annual Passholders even though we live in North Carolina, DVC members since 2009, our home resort is Disney's Grand Californian! We have been on 4 Disney Cruises, Disney Wonder to Alaska, Disney Dream 5-Night Castaway Cay Double Dip, and the newest ones...the ones this trip report is about...Back to Back 7-Night Western Caribbean Cruises on the Disney Magic! We have also been to Disneyland in California and in Paris!

*A few of the other Trip Reports I have done are in my signature in case you are interested in those as well!

My husband has a very crazy work schedule, so most of the time we end up doing last minute trips, and this time it was no different! A few weeks ago his schedule opened up and I checked on the Disney Cruise Line website and noticed some really great IGT rates for the Disney Magic! We have wanted to go on the Magic since it has been overhauled and we have never been on a cruise to the Western Caribbean either, so it was a win-win situation! We booked them and planned everything as quickly as possible!

I can't wait to get started, just another little FYI, I love taking photos, so there will be tons, I narrowed all the photos I took down to the 400 that will be presented in this report! Hopefully, fingers crossed, at the end of this TR, I will have a recap video of our trip!

Sleeping on the night before a vacation seems to be one of the most difficult things in the world for me! There is so much anticipation built up from the countdown that no matter what I do, I seem to wake up early and throughout the night. My wonderful Mother had come in town to watch my dogs during the weekends we will be away and my Dad is going to be watching them during the weekdays. So this morning, we got up and Jeremy made breakfast for everyone while I went over last minute packing lists to make sure that we weren't going to be forgetting anything. I spent the morning and early afternoon spending time with my doggies and family. It would be quite a few days/weeks before we would see them again!

By around 1:15 in the afternoon we were all ready and set to start our adventure. The first stop always is at the Murphy Express gas station down the street to fill up before we head out. Not just on gas, but car snacks and drinks for the drive as well!

_MG_2977_zpsovabwciw.jpg

Jeremy is pumped up and ready for this vacation, he has been on outage at work for way too long, he is excited to get to sleep in and leave his work phone turned off AND at home! Both good reason to celebrate while getting gas! I think for our snacks we ended up with Chex Mix, Funyuns, Cheez Its, and Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips. Hey we are on vacation, no diets here! I did get a bottled Water though, Jeremy chose something that we can really only get around here and that is a Cheerwine!

_MG_2978_zpsfqstefnl.jpg

Fueled up and Snacked Up, we hit the long...long...road, headed to Jacksonville, FL for the night! We like to stop part of the way so we can have more time both at home and at our destination. We already had some things planned to do at Walt Disney World the next day, so we wanted to make sure we weren't rushing around to get them done. By 4:00 in the afternoon we had made it to I-95! We started in North Carolina, and were also now in the state of South Carolina! I-95 will take us all the way to the Daytona Beach area, so we will be on the same road the rest of the day today and then tomorrow morning as well!

_MG_2979_zpsdnichweq.jpg

266 miles to go until we reach our hotel for the night. With a quick stop at a rest area, we still managed to make it to the SC/Georgia line by 5:45! Funny story: While we were driving we saw a Lincoln Navigator with a DVC sticker on the back, I happened to have my DVC Car Magnet inside. I had taken it off the back of the car to get it washed before we departed for our vacation. Anyways...moving on. I held the magnet up to the window as we passed by the Navigator. The guy driving got REALLY excited and waved at us! We waved back and that really left a smile on our faces for a while thinking about it! Random DVC moments are the best!

_MG_2982_zps1f2bxhio.jpg

One time we were in Atlanta, at Turner Field, on a tour of the stadium, and other people in the tour were DVC members too! Another time, we were at the airport and we were in the security check line and one of the TSA guys asked us where we were headed and when we told him on a Disney Cruise, he informed us he was a DVC member and was headed out on a Fantasy Cruise with his family in a few weeks! There are seriously DVC members and Disney Lovers everywhere, it is so much fun to get to talk to people that love Disney just as much as we do!

If you have ever been on I-95 in Georgia, you will know that on a certain portion of the road...you start to smell something. It seems to be coming from some sort of factory looking plant off to the side of the road, never really sure what type of factory it is or what they do there...but we do know that it smells...every...single...time!

_MG_2985_zpsivt8iijf.jpg

By 7:20 we had made it to Florida!! Only a little ways to go until we could have some dinner and relax a little for the night.

_MG_2989_zpsarynhv4k.jpg

Does anyone else love to look at clouds while they are on long road trips? Well, these two were my favorite of the drive...I am so strange...taking photos of clouds! This cloud seemed to be pointing at something? Or at least that is what it looked like to me...little did I know what it was actually pointing at!

_MG_2986_zpshsfjpoqs.jpg

It was None other than Phineas from the Disney Channel Show Phineas & Ferb! Well...ok maybe it is a stretch, but at the time that is what it looked like to me! Can you see him?? Or does it look like something completely different to you?

_MG_2987_zpsifp3up9a.jpg

We made it!! We pulled off the exit and into the parking lot of the Aloft Hotel in Jacksoville, FL! In the same parking lot was an Outback Steakhouse so we decided to pop in there for a quick bite to eat before checking in. We chose this hotel for a few reasons. The proximity to our favorite breakfast location...Panera Bread. The distance to Walt Disney World for our drive the next day. Lastly the price! We got a great deal on hotels.com! So when we checked in and made it to our room...I was so very happy with our decision!

With our first leg of the drive out of the way and dinner consumed, we were ready to get some rest! Tomorrow we would be driving the two and a half hours to Walt Disney World, staying at the Polynesian Villas for the night! So excited for tomorrow, haircuts, LEGO store, dinner with friends!! I should be able to have a lovely nights sleep right??

Friday, April 11th, 2015 (Day Two)
Of course I couldn't sleep, and ended up waking completely at around 6:00, after tossing and turning all night. I finally decided to stop laying in bed at about 6:45, and got up to take my shower and start getting ready. By 8:00 we had checked out of Aloft, but since it was daylight I decided to get a better photo of it from the outside!

AloftExterior_zps58p7fh21.jpg

For our first stop of the day we headed across the street to Panera Bread to grab some bagels for breakfast, with that quick pit stop over, we were on the road by 8:30 and heading to Walt Disney World! It always excites me when we see the sign for I-4!! At that point, we know that it is not much further, it is like the Final Countdown to arrival!

AlmostThere_zpsfwtwdvvz.jpg

At 10:20 we made our very last stop before making it! We stopped quickly at the rest area right outside of Orlando! By 11:00 we had made it!! We didn't go through the large gate, but we entered on the Downtown Disney side, however, we still did get to see a sign!

WaltDisneyWorld_zpsqx1csgrm.jpg

This was going to be our first opportunity to park at the new Parking Deck! Downtown Disney was always such an interesting place to park, so this time we were excited to try out the new system! Oh My Gosh! If you have not parked at the parking deck before, let me tell you, it is pretty awesome!! So on the outside, there is a screen that tells you how many available parking places are on each deck...how do they know that you may ask? Well each parking place has a little light sensor over the top. If the parking space is open, it lights up Green, if it is taken, it is unlit!! How awesome is that, so to find a parking space all you have to do is look for the green lights overhead!! So awesome, and helped us find a great space right away!!

We headed out of the parking deck and started making our way toward the Marketplace side of Downtown Disney, soon to be "Disney Springs". Our first stop before shopping was at Earl of Sandwich to split a small lunch. We made it in there just in time, because after we sat down with our meal, the line escalated so quickly that it was out the door!! We split an Italian Sandwich and Baked Chips!

EarlofSandwichJeremy_zpsquvibxa1.jpg

These photos are so funny, but different from all of the ones later in the vacation, because this afternoon we have haircut appointments at Ivy Trellis at the Grand Floridian, so these are kind of our "before" photos, my hair was so long and needed the ends trimmed BADLY!!! But for the moment, this is what we were dealing with!

EarlofSandwichAndrea_zpsyfnrgodu.jpg

We finished up out little lunch at Earl of Sandwich and went to grab a little dessert over at Goofy's Candy Co.! Other than popcorn, this is the one thing that we try and get each and every time we come down here! We absolutely love the Dark Chocolate Covered Pineapple Spears!! So delicious, light and refreshing!

PineapleSpear_zpsfqg2nnsj.jpg

Our first and only shopping stop here at Downtown Disney was next up on our list. We are huge LEGO fans, We always save up our LEGO VIP dollars for Downtown Disney, we don't have a LEGO store near us, plus here with our Annual Passes we get a discount, so we get the best deal possible if we use them here. So we walked over to see what we could find!

LEGODragon_zpsz22paj18.jpg

Lately, I have really started enjoying the LEGO Friends sets more and more, so I thought what better opportunity to get a photo with one of the characters from those sets!! So I had Jeremy take a photo of Olivia and Me!

OliviaLego_zpsx66igkso.jpg

With only $25 out of our pockets we were able to get 6 LEGO sets!! We were so happy to add them to our collection!

If you are familiar with LEGO here is what we got:
Ultra Agents - 70166 - Spyclops Infiltration
Ultra Agents - 70169 - Agent Stealth Patrol
Speed Champions - 75912 - Porsche 911 GT Finish Line (New to us, our first set of this theme!)
Disney Princess - 41052 - Ariel's Magical Kiss (I had to get a Disney one!!)
Friends - 41037 - Stephanie's Beach House
Friends - 41097 - Heartlake Hot Air Balloon

With our car loaded full of luggage it was getting pretty full once we put those in the back, but we managed to get them in and pull out of the parking deck. Now we were headed to the Polynesian to get checked in!!

Next Up: Check In at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort!

I'm loving your report so far, fabulous photos and I'm so looking forward to the next instalment!!

Thank you so much!! I am glad you are enjoying it!! So glad to have you following along! I just posted the next bit!! I love taking photos, it is one of my favorite things to do while on vacation! So sometimes I get a little carried away...haha, I think that I had a few thousand that I narrowed down to get the ones in the report...LOL! Thanks again for reading along!

$25 for all of those lego sets? Thats amazing! were they on sale in addition to your AP discount?

$25 for all of those lego sets? Thats amazing! were they on sale in addition to your AP discount?

I should have explained a little better...oops...LOL We purchase LEGO sets throughout the year and save up LEGO VIP reward dollars. So the sets were regular price, we used our Annual Pass Discount which was 10% I think? Then we used our LEGO VIP dollars...after all of that our total we had to pay out of pocket that day was $25...well actually $24 and some change.

Thanks for reading along! I guess the way I wrote it made it sound like Downtown Disney's LEGO sets are super cheap...LOL I wish they were, because man they can sure add up quickly!

Definitely following this report! We were on your first cruise with you! :)

That is so awesome! Did you see us around? I don't think I actually met anyone from Disboards on either cruise. We missed the MeetUp, and then I did happen to see the ladies Pink Party going on in the Promenade Lounge whenever we were playing Disney Tunes Trivia I think?? So anyways, WELCOME! Thanks for following along!

Friday, April 11th, 2015 (Day Two - Part Two)
We left Downtown Disney/Disney Springs and started the short drive over to Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. I could not believe that it just opened on April 1, and we are going to be able to stay here, yeah it is only for one night, but still, I am shocked that it was not booked solid! We waved at the Transportation and Ticket Center, sadly this trip we were not going to be making it to any of the parks, but we will be back soon, so we weren't too worried. Then we made it!

PolynesianVillage_zpstoboeqkn.jpg

We parked our car and headed inside. We walked over to the check-in desk and with no wait at all were speaking to a Castmember and another who was earning their ears! I had already done online check-in so the process was pretty simple. We received our Leis, standard Gray Magic Bands, and Check-In Packet. It was still a little early for our rooms to be ready, so we headed back out to the car, we were planning on moving it close to the DVC Villas, before we needed to go over to the Grand for our haircuts!

JeremyLei_zpsyibdq7f5.jpg

On the drive over from the Check-In parking to the Villa parking area, my phone dinged, our room was ready? Wow, that was quick, and definitely unexpected! We did our little happy dance because we could go ahead and take our luggage inside before we took the monorail over! I was also able to take a few photos before we got too comfy in the room!

We were going to be staying in the Pago Pago building!

DVCPagoPago_zpsdx5omjsm.jpg

PagoPago_zpsfxgop9jl.jpg

We were so happy and lucky that our room was one of the closest to the entrance! No need to haul the luggage far at all! So we walked in to check it out! Here is the view from when you enter!

PolyRoomOne_zps7sn2itl6.jpg

See those two doors to the right, well they are split bathrooms! One of them is a bathtub/shower combo with sink and toilet, the other is a large shower with toilet! Here is the photo of the Shower Side!

PolyRoomFour_zpseyhy2upx.jpg

I just love the raised beds with the storage underneath! There were so many fun an unique details in the room!

PolyRoomTwo_zpslg7p8r5o.jpg

PolyRoomThree_zpsvbx0fb7l.jpg

With our luggage dropped off it was time for us to head over to Ivy Trellis. So we walked over and hopped on the monorail and made it there in time for our cuts! By 3:30 we were finished and heading back to the room. Tonight we had plans to have dinner with our friends Dan & Mindy, who we met on a Dream Cruise back in 2012! We called them and let them know to meet us here whenever they were ready!

While we were waiting Jeremy headed outside to sit on our patio...we didn't have a balcony since we were on the first floor. I know, I will call it a Lanai, that is much more Polynesian than patio! Right away he found himself a comfy chair to show off his new haircut in!

JeremyRelaxing_zpsjpvejtbq.jpg

It had a lovely garden view, so we sat out there for a little while waiting for our friends to arrive!

OurBalconyView_zpsis6ipwxr.jpg

It was almost time for us to head to our dinner reservation at Kona Cafe! Jeremy took a quick photo of me showing off my recently trimmed hair, you can't really tell too much in the photo that I got it cut, but later on it makes a huge difference!

ReadyForDinnerAndrea_zpsx4quivq4.jpg

For dinner at Kona I had the Caterpillar Roll, it is one of my absolute favorite things to get there! So delicious! I forgot to take a photo of it from this trip, luckily I eat it quite often and happen to have one from September!

CaterpillarRoll_zpse8a2aa27.jpg

Jeremy had the Sticky Wings! To drink I had a Pina Colava, and Jeremy a Kona Longboard. But the real reason everyone comes to Kona is the Hawaiian Bread with Macadamia Nut Butter! It is so delicious!!

HawaiianBreadButter_zps3aa00f93.jpg

After dinner the four of us headed back to the room to hang out and chat for a bit. Tomorrow was our cruise day! They were kind enough to let us leave our car at their house and so we were planning on driving it over there in the morning pretty early so we could be back for breakfast at Kona at around 8:45!

Next Up: Kona Breakfast and our first look at the Disney Magic!!

Sunday, April 12th, 2015 - Part One
Today was the day we start our cruise! I think I woke up at 6:00 without an alarm and started to get ready. I let Jeremy sleep in for a little while longer. We needed to be at Dan & Mindy's house by 8:00 so that we could make it back to the Polynesian for our breakfast reservation. Once we were dressed and ready we made sure everything was packed in the appropriate bags, the put our luggage tags on, and loaded everything up in the car! By 7:30 we were headed to their house about 20 minutes outside of Walt Disney World. On our way we started seeing lots of hot air balloons! You can make them out in this photo if you look closely. I can't imagine that they had a good view from up there? It looks really cloudy!

HotAirBalloons_zpsr3qtpyr8.jpg

I have never been in a hot air balloon, maybe one day I will try it out! We made it to their house, parked King Candy, transferred all of our luggage to the trunk of their car, we did however leave all of the LEGO in our car, and then we all hopped in and drove back to the Polynesian! We had breakfast reservations at Kona Cafe at 8:45. We had heard so much about Tonga Toast that Jeremy wanted to try it and see how it was. The recipe for it was in the latest edition of Disney Files Magazine too! So we made it back to the Poly and Jeremy had to stop for a photo op!

JeremyTiki_zpsfrwtpdew.jpg

The lobby is so much quieter without the waterfall in the middle, I really miss it though, it really gave the area so much charm! At least I will always have it in my memories. We walked up the stairs, passed by the Hidden Mickeys, and checked in at Kona!

KonaCafeSign_zpsgzlea0ad.jpg

We were seated almost right away and then started looking at the menu to decide what we all wanted to have for breakfast! I knew that for two weeks food was going to be pretty much shoved in our faces, so was contemplating opting for something lighter. Jeremy on the other hand was going to eat the Tonga Toast!

KonaMenuJeremy_zpsvi7r7swq.jpg

He ate it so fast in fact, I didn't even really have enough time to take a photo of it. I did taste a bite, and it was the most sugary breakfast food I think I have ever eaten. I am more of a savory prepared breakfast person most of the time. Today I chose to have the Fruit Plate, which came with some delicious Banana Bread, and a Liliko'i Juice! I was extremely happy with my breakfast!

FruitBreakfast_zpsfbvvn1jh.jpg

When we finished breakfast it was time to head to Port Canaveral to the Disney Cruise Line Terminal! We couldn't wait, but had lots of fun on the drive with Dan & Mindy! Once we were getting close we started looking for our ship! Then we spotted it, our very first time setting eyes on the Disney Magic!!

FirstGlimpseofMagic_zpsgscax28i.jpg

We made it to the passenger drop-off, handed our luggage over to the porters, hugged our friends and made our way towards the terminal. We did make a put stop at the restroom over by the parking, but then we went to security. I think we got to the port at 11:15 or so and there was not even a line to go through security. So it went super quickly! At the top of the stairs we stopped by the DVC booth where they gave us our DVC Lanyards and let us know of the Member Celebration happening onboard! Next we walked over to the Castaway Club Check-In!

CastawayClubCheckIn_zpscnww4g6m.jpg

Eileen was our helpful check-in Castmember, we had our photos re-taken because last time we went on a cruise my hair was super short. She handed me one Silver Castaway Lanyard but not one to Jeremy?? We asked about it and she said that the records showed that Jeremy had never cruise with Disney before? So she took his information and said that they would check in to it, and if he had in fact been on a Disney Cruise before his lanyard would be delivered to the stateroom. I think that is really funny, it is strange too because his passport number would have been the same, and if that matched up it looks like his photo would have been in the system too? Who knows, what happened, so we finished up our check-in and went to find somewhere to hang out until they started boarding! I believe we were in boarding group 9!

WaitingInTerminal_zpscdid5y2e.jpg

We sat down and I checked my Nintendo DS to see if I had received any street passes! I always love getting those when we go out of town! Jeremy took the opportunity to start perusing the Navigator!

FirstNavigator_zpsrluqsrkg.jpg

We were sitting in the sun a little so I had my sun hat on to block it. Jeremy decided he wanted to take a photo of me as well!

SittingInSunTerminal_zpstpmlkxjc.jpg

At right about Noon, they started boarding the ship! Not too long after they called our boarding number and we headed in the direction of the Mouse Ears! It didn't take very long at all and we were walking the anticipatory pathway to the Disney Magic! We decided before we came that we weren't going to get any photos on these particular cruises so we just bypassed the photo lines. Now we were about to head into the ship!!

Next Up: Disney Magic Please Welcome Aboard the Chronister Family!

I'm not sure if we ran into you or not! I did go to the meet and greet, but I missed the Pink Party entirely. What dining rotation did you guys have? I see you had second seating..so did we. We had the CLACCLA rotation.

We were on your cruise too. Probably walked by each other as we were in boarding group 8.

Had CLACCLA as our rotation, but first seating. Looking forward to more of your TR.

What did you think of having Carioca's three times? We thought we weren't going to like it, but it actually ended up being fine and I loved that we had Pirate Night there.

We are going on a cruise on the Magic soon, so I am excited to read about your two weeks on her! Great start to your trip report!

We had the CLACCLA rotation as well!! We had to have seen each other at some point then ;) When I saw our rotation originally, the let down thought crossed my mind, but actually it ended up being great! We did not have any problems with any of the restaurants and had a great time even on formal night in Animator's!

Welcome!! Thanks for reading along! I really liked the CLACCLA rotation! How cool that you were also on the cruise and on the same rotation! I bet we did pass each other by sometime! I felt like I saw the same people over and over on the cruise too! I guess that is bound to happen though, there aren't that many places people can go!

Awesome!! Where is your cruise going? I am glad you are following along, I think I am just as excited to write all of it out as some of you all are excited to read it! We really loved the Magic, so much in fact that we are going to be going on another Magic Cruise next year! It would be pretty awesome if you happened to have either our room host or dining team! They were all great, you are going to hear a lot about them in the trip report!

Sunday, April 12th, 2015 - Part Two
It was finally our turn to be welcomed aboard the Disney Magic! It is such a great feeling when you arrive on the ship for the first time. Even more so when it is a Disney ship, then even more a Disney Ship that you have never been on! This was our first time on the Disney Magic, and we had 15 Days to explore her! The first thing we did right away was head up to Cabanas on Deck 9 to have a little lunch. We picked out a two-person table and I sat down while Jeremy went to grab his food. We had a lovely view of the parking area, and the restroom where we had made a pit stop earlier today!

ViewFromCabanas_zps0bkgr7gj.jpg

There weren't too many people in here as of yet, so it was a little quiet, so I took the opportunity to take a photo of the tables without any people at them!

CabanaTable_zpsseqk2igp.jpg

Jeremy made it back with his food, a little eclectic plate of Noodles, Rice, Salad, and Crab! The it was my turn to head to the buffet to see what I could find that looked interesting!

JeremysLunch_zpsezobml9i.jpg

After I got my plate of food I made my way back to the table and we dug in! I decided on some turkey and gravy, with asparagus and a few other little things! The food was just what we needed to hopefully tide us over until our Second Seating dinner!

It was nearing 1:00 so we started to explore the ship a little before our rooms were ready. We headed up to Deck 10 and started looking around at the pools from above and the compass! I never noticed it or even if there was one on the other ships that we had been on?

It was definitely looked sunny and it was but you could tell that it was getting cloudy and there were definite storm clouds within sight. I posed for a photo in my sun hat. I don't think it was sunny enough for the hat, really I just didn't want it to get squashed in my luggage so I decided to wear it...haha!

After we finished looking at the pools, slides, and everything up on Decks 9 and 10, we walked down to O'Gill's on Deck 3! We knew beforehand that we were probably going to be spending a bunch of time in there, because of the trivia and activities, and then Jeremy wanted to get his mug. When we made it there we met the bartender Andys, and we asked him if the mug would be good for both cruises, when he said Yes, Jeremy was very happy! He went ahead and tried the O'Gills Pale Ale. He had really enjoyed 687 on the Dream and he really liked this one as well! It is pretty cool to have a beer that is made specifically for that pub!

By the time Jeremy finished up his beer it was a little after 2:00 so we wanted to head to the room quickly to drop off our bags and things that we were carrying around before the Drill at 3:30-4:00. We found our stateroom 6545 and walked in! We had an almost identical stateroom on our Alaska Cruise, so we were very happy with it. If anyone is interested to know, we booked an IGT rate for both cruises and were given 11A 6545 for both of them. Here are a few photos of it!

It was great because both of our bags were delivered while we were there, Jeremy's was there at the door when we arrived, and mine was there very shortly after! We also took this opportunity to decorate our door with our Toy Story themed Magnets!

After doing our door decor we decided to go ahead and unpack the suitcases so that everything would be organized and ready for the next two weeks. With everything put away we still had a little time to go before the Lifeboat Drill, so we left the room and headed back up to Deck 10 to sit in the shade and relax a little. We had a lovely view of the Twist N Spout slide!

Around 3:30 we walked down to Deck 9 and grabbed us some ice cream to eat on the way down to Deck 4 in our E section! The flavor of the day was Mango maybe? Not exactly sure, I only have a photo of Jeremy's ice cream and he rarely got the flavor of the day, opting for the more traditional chocolate, vanilla, or swirl of those two!

Next up: Life Boat Drill, Popcorn, & Carioca's!

We are sailing to Norway. Very excited about it! First time I am cruising a Disney ship back here in Europe (I am from Germany) and with my sister. I hope she likes cruising!! We are going to be on deck 6 as well, but all the way forward in one of the sideways 11B cabins. I will look out for your room host and tell him that I read about him on the DIS! :goodvibes
