Hi everyone!

I'm new to the Disboards although I've been lurking for years. I'm a lover of all things Disney and have been most of my life but have never been and neither has my husband or children.
My husband and I sat down and decided that this is the year! :cool1:

We are booked for 1 week at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and I'm so excited that I can barely contain myself which is very hard because we aren't telling the kids until we pull onto World Drive

So happy that I finally have a reason to join the boards and get to asking questions!

Nothing can match that first visit....even after our 44 trips, we can hardly wait for departure time and get all tingly when we approach the property....

Make sure you take the time and do the small things in WDW, linger and stroll around your resort, spend time at the pool....same with the parks...don't rush from attraction to attraction but check out the landscaping, archetiture...have a bucket of pop corn, giant pickle in Liberty Square, a few mickey bars.....there's magic around every corner and seeing your children's faces light up when they see up Main Street at the Castle are what memories are made of....have a wonderful trip...

Wow a first trip, and you are staying at Animal Kingdom! It will be wonderful!!! :woohoo:

:welcome:
That's so exciting - your first trip! No matter how many times you get there, the first walk of the trip onto Main St looking at the castle is amazing! Enjoy the planning and have a great trip!!! :wizard:

Welcome!
Planning a Disney trip is so much fun!
The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a nice choice. The lobby is really beautiful. Take time to sit on the sofas and soak up the atmosphere! It always smell great too. The Boma resaraunt is always cooking and getting ready for the next big meal. It is a popular place to eat (and not just for those who are staying at the Lodge). The pool is lovely too.
I like to go out and sit on the balcony and watch the animals in the middle of the night. It is so peaceful.
Be sure to take tons of photos. You will not be sorry to have them when you get home. I buy a new fancy (hallmark) photo album and have it ready to fill up when I get home. Use the photopass too! There are photographers throughout the parks who are there to take your pictures. Get a photopass card from the very first one to take your pic. Keep the card handy and give it to every photographer you see and then have them take more pics. When you get home, go to the photopass website and put in the number on your photopass card. You will see all the pics that were taken of your group. You can then add cute Disney effects and order the pics or a disc with all the pics. They are a great keepsake.
Take your time at the parks and enjoy. You will have a great time!
And while you are planning, feel free to ask questions.

Thank you so much everyone for the warm welcome! :goodvibes I tried to quote and thank everyone personally but I guess I need to have more posts to do that. So next time. :)

Thank you for the tips too, I'll definitely be taking alot of them to heart and using them on our trip.

DH and I have been married for 13 years and we have never been on a family vacation anywhere that wasn't just to visit family. And even then in the last 4 years DH has been working so much that it's usually just me and the kids going so we are thrilled to finally be getting away. Heck, we didn't even have a honeymoon so now we are just a little late :rotfl:
