Disney Legend Marty Sklar has passed away at 83

Really sad. If a mod wants to move my theme park attractions thread to this I'm totally ok. Wasn't sure exactly where Marty fit since he really touched so much of the company.

Marty is truly one of the last great connections to Walt we have. Everyone who has stepped into a Disney park has seen influence of his work. From Disneyland to Epcot Center to even Shanghai. Marty was at every single Disney parks opening. As someone who aspires to make a career in themed entertainment, Marty Sklar was someone I would want to be like.

Marty is my close second behind Tony Baxter. He is that type of person if you end up being half as successful you would still be pretty darn good. May he rest in peace.

So sad - I met him at D23 and he signed my copy of "Dream It! Do It!: My Half-Century Creating Disney's Magic Kingdoms". I asked him of all the projects he worked on which was his favorite and he replied "Small World" because it shows that people aren't so different and can have the same aspirations. Truly a Disney Legend - he will be missed!

I was so sad when I saw this, Marty was always one of my heroes as a child after my Mom bought me the movie on Imagineering. May you rest in peace Marty Sklar.

That's an awesome book. I read it and then bought a copy for my son as he was waiting for his start date as a CM. Lots of good personal and business knowledge in that book. One of my favorite nuggets is that when in business negotiations, when responding to a proposal that isn't fully acceptable it's a lot better to say "We can say yes, if..." and add your modifications instead of just saying "No, because..."

Sad loss of institutional knowledge for Disney, and Disney fans, for sure.

Thankfully we live in an age that was able to capture a lot of the knowledge and wisdom this man possessed for years to come. But it can't replace who he was and what he did. RIP Marty

So very sad. I love his book 'Dream It, Do It' as well. Loved hearing him speak about working with Walt and building MK and EPCOT. I realize he has a window on Main Street but I hope all the 'Disney Parks' around the world try to honor him today.
