Has anyone been to Disney the last week of August leading up to Labor Day? I have a 6yo & 2yo and am considering that week because a friend told me the crowds weren't bad that week. She has teenagers though. I already know it will be hot. I am more concerned about the crowds. I don't want to spend alot of money and then get frustrated with waiting in lines with 2 little kids, especially the 2yo. My first choice would be fall in Oct or Nov but my son is in school. Have you pulled the kids out of school? My son would be in 1st grade.

in my experience, the last week of august *USED TO BE* the best week of the year (at least for us) in that the crowds were quite low... over the last few years, w/the advent of free dining beginning in late august, it's not as great as it used to be... it's my understanding that later in september and most of october are lower crowd periods, but there's no free dining!

Check our crowd forecast. August is still summer break for much of the country, but the later the better. Labor day gets a little busier but nothing like the 4th or Easter.

Medium crowds are manageable if you're a planner. The light crowds are much nicer if your kids school would allow it.

We were there last year August 27 to Sept 3rd. The crowds were pretty light but there was a tropical storm (Ernesto?) threatening part of the time. As long as you are there when the parks open you should not have much of a problem with lines.

The Saturday before Memorial Day we were at AK and it was okay until noon and then it was just crazy crowded. Oh yeah, it was also hotter than hades. If there is any way you can go in October or November I would do it.

DS6 started kindergarten in mid August last year so I had to pull him out for a week for that trip. I would not do it again because my DS6 requires a lot of structure. It took him some time to catch up with his class. I think it depends on your child and how adaptable they are. If your kid can go with the flow and there are no problems with your school then I would go for it.

Welcome to the dis!:welcome:

We usually always go this week, leaving the day before Labor day. We have always loved it. Crowds are extremely low and in the last 5 years we've never had to wait more than 15 mins for any major attraction. Last year because of Ernesto, the parks were empty, I mean Epcot was so empty we literally asked a cm if the park had closed down unbeknownst to us.
This year unfortunately they are offering free dining and that always brings the crowds up.
Personally I don't pull my kids out of school for any reason short of a family emergency-sends the wrong message to me but that is my take on it. I know plenty of folks who have. This year we are going to WDW during Jersey week instead, hopefully the crowds will be low.

We went that week last year and the crowds were very light. It was hot but it's very tolerable when your not standing in long lines. We used to take the kids out of school to go during the slower weeks but this is perfect because they don't go back till after labor day. A lot of the kids down south are back in school that week which is the reason for light crowds.

We'll be there the last 2 weeks of August, same as last year. The crowds are lighter and the lines, for the most part, are manageable. Enjoy!!

We were there that time last year and it was great. Crowds were not bad at all. We did get up early and hit all the big, popular rides right away. It was def HOT, though, so be prepared! It didn't slow us down, though!
