Disney Jr Site US only :(

Just got an email from Mickey's Moms Club (hate the freaking name, Dad's are parents too), and none of the links work. All I get is:

While my kids are almost out of the "Junior" phase, I still spend big $$ at Disney, and should be able to get to the content.

Gosh I hate US only sites.

Just so you know, a lot of times sites are restricted like that due to contractual rights issues. Disney may have only U.S. distribution rights to some of the content, and thus they restrict it. Same reason you probably can't watch a lot of videos on various sites - for instance, I know Canadian viewers couldn't watch some web series on the Syfy web site, like Riese: Kingdom Falling. Eventually SPACE got the Canadian rights.

It works both ways...there is a lot of BBC content I'd like to watch.

I totally agree with you on the name. I never understood why they called in the Mom's Panel. I know they accept dads too, but still, I thought it was weird for Disney to call it the Mom's Club. Why not the Mickey Parents Club? Or Disney Family Panel?

It works both ways...there is a lot of BBC content I'd like to watch.

Um, BBC is in the UK, not Canada. To my knowledge, there are no geographical restrictions on Canadian TV channels.

The reason for the banishment is the corporate greed of the Canadian media giants. Rogers and Bell own the majority of Canadian television stations, as well as the cable (or in Bell's case satellite) and are also the country's two largest service providers.

So, in order to watch a tv show online, you have to log in with your cable account number. But of course, if the show you want to watch is on a Bell TV station and you're a Rogers cable subscriber (or vice versa), you can't watch those shows online. Then, on top of that, their internet divisions put on severely low bandwidth caps, meaning you can't watch much online anyways.

I can guarantee this will happen in the US with Comcast buying NBC. Only Comcast cable subscribers will be able to watch NBC shows.

I know where the BBC is... I was using it as a known example. You can't watch programming via the BBC web site in the U.S. because other stations have the rights to the U.S. viewers. But I'm betting there are some similar restrictions for some Canadian sites. I tried SPACE and it is giving me a "technical error", so I'm not sure.
