JUST CALLED FOR INFO.

DISNEY IS OPEN TODAY AND TOMOROW THEY THINK.

I GUESS I WILL HEAD UP THERE NOW.

SARAH.

HAVE A SAFE WEEKEND EVERYONE.

I wouldn't count on it. If you don't have to be here why come? The parks will still be here next week.

The winds are already starting to pick up here.

Just checked Disney's website and the following popup appeared:

Walt Disney World® Resort
Important Information for September 4, 2004
The Walt Disney World Theme Parks, Water Parks, Recreation
Areas, the Boardwalk and Downtown Disney will not operate
on Saturday, September 4 based upon forecasts from the
National Weather Service and information from emergency
preparedness officials.

For guests with priority seating for Character Dining in a resort
location, meal service will be provided, but characters will
not appear.

We anticipate resuming limited operations sometime on
Sunday, September 5 after the storm has passed. Updated
information will be distributed as soon as it is available.

Don't jump in your car just yet, I work at MK and was scheduled today...They are NOT open...As doxdogy posted ALL of the property is closed today in anticipation of the storm.

They are still evaluating wether or not they will be open tomorrow (Sunday) and the next day (Monday)... If the storm keeps the speed that it is currently on, they will not be open AT ALL tomorrow as the storm will be over us almost all day tomorrow and then once it is passed they will have to asses the damages and clean up so the potential for Monday being closed as well is there (not to mention the CM's not being able to get into work because of curfews, road closures and damage).

ALL OF WDW PROPERTY IS CLOSED TODAY!!! (Resort hotels are open obviously to assist with the guests that are there...but the parks are closed).

I'm just curious.....what happens if you are stuck at Disney an extra day or two beyond your check-out date? Do they still charge you for the extra days? Offer the rooms at a discounted price? Or do you stay at no charge? Just wondering as we have friends who were supposed to checkout today and looks like they may have to stay until at least Monday.

Sammy

They are offering rooms at the Hotel you are currently staying at for a discounted rate,if you are already there. We were at the BC and was offered the rate of 199.00 plus tax if we needed to add on days.BC was the only place they would let us add on though.

Misty

I just hear it on CNN also that all the parks were closed. Not that they would have up to the minute info but it seemed to make sense given the situation.

The parks are closed.

If you don't have to be there, please don't go. No vacation is worth your safety. :(

Just checked the Travel agents D-flash and it says parks are closed. As others mention they will not say yes or no about Sun yet.

The Hotel's are open but not the Park's, if that is what you mean.

The parks will be closed tomorrow (Sunday) as well as being closed today.
This comes from a letter delivered to our room at Saratoga Springs by a CM earlier today.

Good Luck Everyone in Florida this weekend!

CNN is interviewing a Disney spokesperson live right now, and she says no decision has been made about opening Sunday at this time.

As many of you know I am a CM at MK and we have already been told that we are NOT to report to work tomorrow, that the parks will be closed and that at this time Monday is up in the air.

I sure hope that the OP didn't end up driving to WDW today!:(

From what I understand, there would be no gas available for the car, anyway. I feel sorry for all those people stuck in their hotel rooms.

It is also uncertain as to when gas will be available since the Florida distributor in Tama is out, too. Deliveries will probably be made from out of state after the storm...when everyone who evacuated is on the road trying to get back home!
