Can anyone please tell me what Disney World is like in December? I'm thinking around the 12th-18th..

What are the parks like crowd wise? What is the weather like?

Never been in December before so any info is appreciated, thanks!

The crowds are moderate. Pop Warner takes place during that time period, so avoid the All Star Resorts. The weather can vary day to day and hour to hour. I have visited WDW several times during this week and I have encountered record lows and record highs with some rainy days occasionally. If you are lucky, you will experience the average high temperature in the low 70's and dry, but make sure you pack for the cold just in case. Nights in WDW can be chilly. I usually end up wearing a T-shirt and jeans and wrapping a sweatshirt around my waist to wear after sunset. The first three weeks of December are the best time of the year to visit WDW. You won't be sorry you booked.:thumbsup2

That Pop Warner thing scares me.. I can't remember what website I was looking at but I thought it said Pop Warner ended December 13th which I was okay with because as of right now we were looking at an All-Star because of free dining..

Weather sounds pretty nice though.. Everything does except this Pop Warner so I'm gonna have to look more into that.. Thanks!

I'm going around that time too. I checked into Pop Warner and it is the 6th through the 13th. :thumbsup2

You are very welcome. I hope you have a wonderful time. If you have an extra day, you really should check out Sea World in December. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of their holiday offerings.

Actually we were thinking about it! I live in Ohio and we used to have a Sea World here but it's been gone for a really long time so we had thought about going while we were there. But we also wanted to get in a day or 2 at Universal so it's kinda becoming complicated.. I don't know if one or two days is enough for Universal, if one is enough we could throw Sea World in then, I just don't know how to plan a trip there that includes more than just Disney cause I get selfish and wanna spend all my time at Disney!

You can experience the greatest hits at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure with a 1 day- 2 park ticket. Just get to Universal Studios at park opening on a Monday - Thursday, head over to IOA mid-afternoon, then hop back to US and stay until park close. Universal's holiday offerings are just O.K. The Grinchmas play and the Macy's parade are the highlights.

So then one day is do-able? I really had no idea cause I haven't been there since I was a little kid and it's completely changed now.. Thank you so much for the information! Maybe it is possible to get everything we want done. We were just in Disney this past May so I'm willing to let some of that go to do new things.

Sure, I think one day at Universal and Islands of Adventure is doable. You won't get to see EVERYTHING, but you will be able to experience the best attractions they have to offer. If you can afford it, maybe spring for the express passes and you will be able to fit in even more rides. The last few times I have visited WDW, I have only budgeted one day for Universal and IOA, and I still left there satisfied. I would recommend quick service meals in Springfield for lunch and Three Broomsticks for dinner in order to save some time. Don't leave before trying the Butterbeer because it is delightful! :santa:

Awesome! We have been thinking express passes would be a good way to go.. And all I can think about is trying butter beer!! Thanks for your tips, I'm definitely more optimistic about this now!

Enjoy! You can get your Universal park tickets at a discount from Undercover Tourist. Also, Sea World is running a promotion right now and it ends sometime in December. If you buy your weekday tickets directly from their website in advance, they are knocking off $ 30.00 per ticket!:wave2:

I'm also from Ohio, and I worked at SeaWorld Ohio one summer. So I was really looking forward to taking my daughter to SeaWorld Orlando when we headed south. Unfortunately, when we went to SeaWorld Orlando in 2012 we were very disappointed. When I worked at SeaWorld, they had multiple animal shows throughout the day. For example, one was a "fun" show and another was an "educational" show, where they showed how they trained the animals. So there might be 4-6 shows over the course of a day, with 2 different themes for each. So you had a reason to see Shamu or the dolphins twice. Orlando, when we were there, had 2 shows per day for Shamu, and they were the same identical show.

Clyde and Seymore are always funny, but overall the shows seem to have gone downhill. And while the kiddo loved the shows, those of us who remember the Ohio experience were definitely underwhelmed. And, while we were there, no penguins. :( Additionally, it seems like they are really trying to compete as a thrill ride park, not on the animals. They have roller coasters and other rides with significantly high height requirements. So while littles might enjoy the animal shows, there wasn't much for them to do between the shows. (But boy, did the 4 year old want to ride the coaster with the 54" height requirement).

YMMV, of course, but this group of Ohioans didn't enjoy SeaWorld Orlando nearly as much as we remember enjoying SeaWorld Ohio.

I remember going to Ohio Sea World as a kid and loving the shows! The shows are always what I would most be into, and zoo or park with animals that offers shows I would pick seeing those over rides.

I honestly had no idea Orlando Sea World even has rides, I've never really looked into going there before so that's kinda surprising to me but sad that they don't offer as many shows cause again that's my favorite part of Sea World.

Another poster commented about the deal they have going on and it seems like a good deal so I may look further into it because of that but with you saying what you've said I don't know..

I really do miss Sea World Ohio though! I even remember after they shut down and then I think it was around the time Six Flags took over Geauga Lake they built that walking bridge to connect the two parks together and said they were gonna rebuild and make everything great but everything went downhill from there, it's sad it's all gone now.

We've been to WDW in December twice, and it is our favorite time of year to visit. The weather was great! We had mid 70's, not much rainfall at all. It was cool enough so you didn't suffer from heatstroke!!!::yes:: The parks were not very crowded in my opinion. We went early when the parks opened and walked on to the most popular rides at least twice before a line started:goodvibes It was great!! we usually go 2 weeks before Christmas, if the POP warner cheerleaders aren't there. This year, during the 12th for a week, is when they go I think. So we booked for November this year. I have heard so many horror stories about being at the resorts when they are there, that we avoid that if we can. I really wanted to go in December this year, but had to change due to Pop warner and also free dining wasn't offered at that time. If you want to spend a lot of time at the water parks, in the pool, then you might not like it in December, but for us it was the best:) I wish you the best!

Nah, we're not big pool people so we wouldn't miss out on that. We'll be catching Pop Warner on their last day so I think we picked the perfect week to go!

I've been to Disney repeatedly in December (first two weeks), and the crowds are manageable. It used to be much less crowded 10 years ago, but it's still low compared to the summer. The weather is nice usually. We only had one year with an issue, when the temperature was in the 30's the last two days we were there.
