Amazon has the cars playset for the Disney Infinity for $15.99 right now. I found my son's Valentine's gift!

I want to get the Disney Infinity game for my son. Any suggestions where to start? No idea which figures to get or what goes with what.

Thank you! Got it for DS11 for Valentine's Day too! And I pre-ordered Mickey too! He'll be so excited!:yay:

Awesome...thanks for heads up! Just picked one up as a combo Valentine gift for my 2 kids.

I picked mine up for PS3 for $34 on Black Friday, but it's quickly become a money sink. The kids love to play it and the collector in me is in intrigued.

Tips:
1. Sometimes the stores will do a Buy 1 Get 1 Free sales.
2. Sam's Club sells them all for 10.98 (cheaper than walmart, target at 12.99) My club just had Mickey in, so we picked him up for 10.98.
3. Download the Disney created Toy Boxes. They currently have some for the Tower Of Terror, Space Mountain, and Fantasyland. The kid's live playing through worlds based off rides.
4. Before buying single character packs, make sure you check that they aren't sold as a package. Good example is villains. You can pickup Syndrome, Randy, and Davy Jones for 24.98 off Sam's Club.com, which is like getting one free.

Thank you! I will do some research before jumping in!

Start with the starter set which comes with 3 figures and three worlds. If he wants to play with a friend in the world part of the game then you need another character in that world, otherwise he can play with the three starter ones in the toy box with a friend. There are two areas to play in the worlds or the toy box. You can't play in the world part (Pirates of the Caribbean) with Mr. Incredible, only characters from Pirates of the Caribbean.

I purchased Violet, Barbossa and Mike to go with the starter pack (so now I can play with all three worlds with a friend). I haven't purchased any of the power discs yet. I don't want to spend a lot of money on this which I know you can do easily. I usually play games with my niece so I grabbed ones to go with the starter pack that would work in both the world part and the toy box.

Eventually, I might get the cars play set and or the Toy Story play set.

I got an e-mail about the 1/2 off at Game Stop, but I'm up in Canada. I was tempted at that price.

Santa brought this for our 13 year old DD and it was her favorite item she received. Our college age son and myself have also played it and thought it was great. As far as what figures to get, I would go with whatever characters your son likes. We now have almost all of the characters. The only ones DD didn't care for were the Car characters. DD had traded in games and used some of her credit on buying them. She didn't like them at all. In all fairness, I wasn't surprised. She never enjoyed the movie Cars. She ended up giving them to a neighbor boy. I think any boy or girl that likes the characters from Cars will love these. Our favorites are the characters from Wreck it Ralph and Frozen. Looking forward to the new Mickey coming in I believe this weekend.

That is great to hear! Our son is 13 also. But our two college age daughters played with some friends and liked it too. That is how I started thinking about getting it in the first place because all three kids were interested.

Thanks, I wasn't sure what went with what. Maybe I shouldn't try to surprise him, but let him tell me what he wants. I don't even know what the power packs are or those stands that the characters stand on (if you need different ones for each or are they interchangeable)

If you can find the Lone Ranger playset on sale, grab it. It's sold out in many places and although it doesn't sound as popular as, say, the cars playset or toy story, my 4 yr old girl loves unlocking the different horses and riding them. It's probably the second best playset right under The Incredibles. I'd unfortunately rank cars dead last.

You need the starter set. It comes with the base and you can add any of the characters onto that one base. The power discs are about $4.99 up here in Canada and they give you special powers or items. You can put the package on a base at the store and see what is inside before you buy. Helps once you have one package but you can use doubles when playing with a friend.

Once he has the starter set, then he will probably start telling you what other parts he wants. Power discs would be great for Easter or other small gifts you like to give out through out the year.
