Hello, We have been to Disney several times but never in October. Planning first trip in October with family members who have never been before. What might the weather be like, park hours and line times for the rides? We are going in the middle of October for a week.

Thanks For Any Help.
:cool1:

we've been 2x's in october (just this past, and a few years ago).

This past october was wonderful - the first day though, they were having a cold spell, and it was about 50. We only brought shorts, flip-flops, etc. My toes were cold!! I had to buy ds a sweatshirt. Everyone was positioning when outside to be in the sunlight. We were laughing about it though. After it passed, it was probably 75 - 80 the rest of the week, and sunny.

A few years ago in october, they were having a heat wave, and it was 94 and sunny every single day. Everyone was positioning to be in the shade that trip. Still an awesome trip!

October can have a cold spell or a heat wave, or be just right. I'm a lot of help, huh? (lol). Seriously, I'd plan for about 80, but bring 1 or 2 capris/pants and a sweatjacket - even for the airconditioning in some restaurants. Or I always plan that I have to buy a clothing souvenir anyway, so if it's cold, I buy something long sleeve, etc (pants and socks are harder to find and fit though, so I'd bring 1 for each person just in case).

The lines were fine - not empty, not horrible. I think september is a little less crowded - some places have off school in october for fall break. just try not to do columbus day weekend (it will just be a bit more crowded - but that's any national holiday).

Have fun!

LOVED October!

I was told it was very hot in 2009 right up until the weekend before we arrived, the 18th, and then a cold snap came through. It was chilly the first night we were there and then the weather was PERFECT! Warm, but not hot, you could swim but didn't drip.

I thought the lines were amazing. We walked on many many things, gave some of our FPs away b/c we didn't need them, and even when there looked to be a little bit more people in the parks (compared to the Sept. trip I had taken) the lines didn't seem any longer. In fact, I was nervous b/c our only other trip was in September and people had told me that October was busier and I didn't get that feeling at all. It may have been that I picked my days better, but we thought it was low crowds and enjoyed it. I'll miss October this year, going in Sept. to save some money, but would go again that time of year in a heartbeat! We went the 3rd week of October, btw. I have a trip report in my signature if you want to read more!

Can you tell me what the park hours were like. Did they have an early park and a late park for resort guest?

We were there in October 2008. It was unusually tropical - very hot and humid, with a fair bit of rain. Feel free to check out my trip report, below.

Tell me about Columbus Day week - we haven't booked yet - so it could be changed... are crowds heavier than other weeks in October?

We left on the Sat of Columbus Day weekend. Crowds were definitely heavier on Fri and Sat - then again, we were at the MK both days, so that certainly makes a difference. I am a big fan of Tour Guide Mike. Check out his site for "best days" and plan your trip using his guidelines.

We have been in October for the last several years during school fall break. The weather was cooler than September, and the lines were a little longer, but not much. Last year, we went a week later and it was a little cooler in the evening, but that was due to an unusual weather system. We saw Florida natives wearing sweaters while we were in t-shirts.

Before we had kids my DH and I used to go to Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights and I do have to say I love FL in October!!! THe weather is usually awesome and even a bit warm. One year we went and it was a bit humid still and hot. I would just be aware and bring a pair of jeans and a sweat shirt and your good to go:)
