ok i am in the beginning stages of planning our next trip. the only time i think i can get leave is toward the end of may (maybe the 20-25th)

are the parks crowded this time of year and are the disney resorts usually more expensive? what would be an idea of how much POLY would be a night?

thanks

I was there at that time this year, and it was not crowded at all. Very nice. And, it was hot!

Disney Fool..... thinking about going the same time or last week May/First week june, What do you consider not that crowded.

How long are the wait times if you don't fastpass?

I know it is hot, but what about the bugs.(can't stand those annoying things)

We were suppose to go this nov and dh hates crowds, I don't think I could wait till next nov.

If anyone else has some info that will be great.

thank

That time of year is "regular" season. We have gone (May 2003 and May 2004) on Memorial Day weekend and stayed for 9-10 days (so that puts us into the first week in June). Yep, it's hot but we did not have any problems with bugs. It is busier than what we prefer (we used to go in early Sep or early Dec) but we are limited to certain times now so........ I don't think the crowds are bad, just not as slow as value season!

We got an AP rate last summer (POFQ $82 after tax) and the year before we stayed at AKL (postcard rate $109), so I don't know what the more "deluxe" deluxes would be.

All I can say is make a ressie and keep your eyes peeled for those codes and have them applied to your ressie ASAP. Have fun!

We were there last year May 17th-26th. It was our first trip so I have nothing to compare it to but we found the crowds fine especially with the use of all the hints we found on these boards such as...

1. arriving early
2. use of fast pass
3. what areas and parks are crowded at certain times

We had a blast and never waited for more than a few minutes for anything!

It WAS hot but coming from Maine I thought it would be unbearable but it was GREAT!!

Have a super time...

I have been at that time for the last 3 years. The 1st time it was actually not hot at all but it was the last 2 years. The crowds were not bad all 3 years.

It gets a little crowed because you're going around a three day weekend. But it isn't horrible. As for the the heat you are in Florida!! As for the bugs........ah you are in Florida!!

this is all great news! thanks. we are definitely gonna go back in oct 2005, but i wanted to try to get a quick 4-5 day trip in during May so I wont have to wait the full year. i dont mind the heat, but the crowds make me crazy.

does anyone know if its too late to book a reservation? if i did book say the contemporary or poly, you can apply those codes later on (if one came out say in january)? also, how do you get the AP rates?

thanks!

You absolutely can/should go ahead and book either resort now. It's not "too late". If you make it a point to visit these boards regularly and also (www.mousesavers.com - she posts the codes as soon as they come out, and she has lots of helpful info) then as soon as a code comes out that applies to the dates you are going, you call WDW immediately (believe me, ASAP) and have the code applied to your exsisting ressie.

Now, about annual passes (AP's)........generally speaking, you need to visit WDW at least 8 days (though not necessarily all at once but within a year) to recoup the cost. AP discounts are among the best. It looks as if you are planning at least 2 trips in 2005. It may be worth it to you to buy an AP. Keep in mind that only one person in your party has to have an AP in order to get the AP discount. The other(s) can have park hoppers or whatever.

I went towards the end of May last year and had a wonderful time!! Attendance wise, it was comparable to when we went in January - pretty slow during the week, but picked up a bit more on the weekends. The longest standby wait was 45 minutes for Test Track, but that was completely out of the ordinary - most waits were no more than 25 minutes.

It was hot, but not excuriatingly so. You could easily cool off by walking into a shop for a few minutes. Bugs weren't much of an issue. The love bugs were either coming or going while we were there, as we only saw a few. And even they don't bite, so they're not much of a bother.

We booked our ressie sometime during February for the May trip, through Dreams Unlimited (dreamsunlimitedtravel.com). They took care of checking for codes to save us money, and didn't have a problem getting us an AP code when we decided to purchase an AP. You should have no problem getting a room now and applying a code later.

Good luck, and have a great time!!!

great! thanks for the info. i'll be calling WDW as soon as work approves my leave for May, hopefully which will be approved!
