...Disney Imagineers can't figure out the"Lights of Winter" technology?

It's starting to make me wonder...if the Imagineers said, "Let's make it better!"...and someone(or ones) on the corporate level replied, "If it costs money, you don't!"

The imagineers can literally do ANYTHING........given the space (and money) to do so.

(Which is part of my issue with Avatarland....)

The thing that bothers me the most is the reason they gave, old technology. I don't care if it was old, they surely could have replaced it by something. When they didn't replace it they showed they didn't care. Christmas at Epcot is a mere shadow of what it once was.

It's awful. At least put something there, It's the black hole of Christmas at Epcot.

Lights of Winter was great.:lovestruc

Do they have a daily tree lighting ceremony at Epcot? I thought I remember something about it but I don't remember if it went away as well.

They turn the tree on. No great show like they used to have. :( I always got a tear in my eye when they sang songs from all the countries.

I really, really miss the "Lights of Winter". The first time I went to WDW in December (I used to go in October) I didn't know about the "Lights of Winter". I walked into Epcot, and as I was heading towards the World Showcase, they started playing. I was mesmerized. I just sat down right there on the cement and watched it for ages. Amazing! Holiday time at Epcot just isn't the same without them.

Sayhello

This show was amazing!!! I never saw the Lights of Winter but I bet it was pretty! That would be neat if they could do a tree lighting version in Epcot between FW and WS and incorporate a light show with lots of Christmas music.
:santa::santa::santa::santa:

I agree. EPCOT was my favorite park at the holidays, now I go to Candlelight and that's it. I'm almost waiting for them to ruin that too somehow.

You know what's really poignant for me? I remember a monorail ride I took in a December, not quite 10 years ago.

A friend and I rode the front cab with the driver, another friend of ours. It was the TTC to Epcot, just after dark. The coolest part was that the monorail, as it glided through Epcot, drove through the Lights of Winter as they were going off in a show.

I regret that I wiill never be able to replicate that experience.

All is needed is a sponsor and those lights will come right back on, as in the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights sponsored by Sylvania.

Here is what most of the Professional looking displays use. This has enough horsepower for the L.O.W.. Without a huge cost.
