Disney Hotel Summer Sale? Coming Soon??

Hello!

Flew home from Disneyland yesterday and I'm already itching to have our next trip on the calendar!!

Airfare deals are smoking right now for June/July where we are. Can book our family of four roundtrip for a great deal! Only issue is the unknown hotel costs. We like to stay at the Grand Californian - we have a toddler so proximity is a huge plus. Right now the current hotel room sale runs through April 20th with a book by date of March 9th.

Wondering if anyone has any insider tips as to whether Disney will offer a hotel room sale for summer 2017 (like they did last year) and when it might be announced? We are annual passholders, so I will be watching those offers too.

Don't want to miss the great airfare price, but don't want to get stuck paying the rack rate should a summer sale not be offered. Love the DLR hotels...but dang, those rooms are expensive!! Whew!

Would appreciate any thoughts on booking timing from the experts here! You guys are amazing!!

If you can great airfare and want to return, I'd look for a place off-site that fits your needs.

Book airfare and an off-site hotel for your dates. With the hopes of Disney having a nice hotel offer for your dates.
Later if you find a room on-site then cancel the off-site room.

I could be wrong, but I think it has been a lot of years since any on-site discounts were offered in the summer. Historically there is usually one that is offered until mid June and then nothing again until mid August. Even if one was offered it likely won't include Fridays and Saturdays, and possibly only on premium rooms.

I would do exactly this. If you are worried about being close to the parks, keep in mind that there are several off-site options (BWPPI, Park Vue, Tropicana, Desert Inn..) that are actually closer to the main gates of both parks than the on-site hotels are.

I am expecting another release of discounts on March 9th based on prior years' timelines as reflected on Mouse Savers. They have a list on their site of when previous discounts were released and what time frames the discounts covered. I would check it out!

Thank you everyone for the great suggestions! Booking a free cancellation room off-site is a great idea. And I will check out the Mouse Savers website too! We've been worried about staying at the closer off-site hotels because of the ever changing security hoops at the various entrances. But, for the cost savings I will take a closer look at those hotels mentioned. Thanks again!!
