Disney hopes big Animal Kingdom expansion keeps visitors in park longer

800 million can more than enough accomplish what they want for the DAK makeover...this goes beyond avatar

Really 800 million can more than cover putting in a whole new land to AK? I know we don't know all the details but I assume Avartarland will be substantial. does anyone know what it cost to put in the new Fantasyland and new DCA. I think those price tags should be comparable.

If they spent 2 Billion just to update to fastpass+ (which I'm sure 1 billion was to compensate guest for their lousy testing phase they had to endure :lmao: ) then I would think 800 million should just about be right.

Don't get me wrong I would love it if there were more, I just think that in the Disney pricing system 800 million is just like a drop in the bucket

I found this to be the most interesting piece of the article. Perhaps these numbers have been out there before, and I missed it. However, it offeres great insight into Disney's thinking. If only 50% of guests were using FP- and those people were only using an average of two FP-'s a day, it's easy to see how they would think that giving everyone a 3 FP+ a day (while also expecting a much higher participateion rate) constitutes an improvement in overall guest experience. Going by the posts here on the DIS (particulalrly on the theme parks board) you would think 95% of guests were using FP-, and every single one of them were pulling an average of 5-6 per day.

Yeah I don't buy that 50% at all, plus only two fast passes...nope

I don't find it to be intrusive at all. As the previous poster suggested-block the signatures or use the ignore feature. :thumbsup2
~Thank you!

I like it.
~Thank you, too!

LOL, I love MD's sig. It's like the sun though (which I love as well) it might burn your eyes out if you stare at it too long... :cool1:
~LOL, this is too funny! :rotfl: But, in all seriousness -- you totally get it. And thank you, as well.

~I'll just limit my signature to appear only once in each thread. :wizard:

~Back on topic -- I have never seen AK at night. We only visit in August, and it's so hot during the day so experiencing AK at night will be a major plus for us! :cool1:

I had never been to AK after dark until my last vacation a couple of weeks ago...and it seemed VERY dark. It almost was as if we were traipsing around a closed park!

Maybe the addition of lighting to the Tree of Life would improve this, but unlike the other 'weenies', it's not totally visible from all angles. They definitely need to improve the lighting for nighttime if they do end up going through with a night show/extended hours, especially since much of the walkways are made of uneven stone.
