I am so excited!! We (my fiance and I ) are planning our Disney honeymoon for this August! We will be in Disney from Aug. 13 -Aug 21!! We decided to stay in the Wilderness Lodge. Things are getting sooo close..We even got PS's at Cindy's for breakfast and dinner!!! I just wanted some opinions on the lodge... We battled with what hotel to stay in for a long time. We must have changed our minds a zillion times!!! My latest thought was maybe ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE??? What do you think?? Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge??? Please let me know your opinions and why you chose that resort.. Does the WL do anything special for honeymooners?? How is the pool at the WL?? Thanks for your time.:Pinkbounc

We stayed at the BC for our honeymoon. They upgraded our room and had a treat there waiting for us. The front desk also called to check on us a couple of times to see if we needed any reservations made. I picked that resort for theme and location and sitting on the beach on swings, watching the fireworks was so romantic. Not a soul around. That's just my experience. I have never stayed at the Lodge so I can't be of help there. Sorry.
Now when my husband and I sit on a swing we have a 4 year old in the middle and one on the way!:)

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

My husband and I were married at the WL last November. It was great!! We stayed there from the Wednesday before our wedding to the Monday after (married on Sunday), then we moved to the Grand Floridian for our honeymoon. While the GF was fabulous (mostly because we stayed concierge level), I think we both preferred the WL. If you have ever been to Yellowstone or Yosemite there is definitely a connection, as was meant to be.

At both hotels we were given roses and champagne to celebrate our marriage. And both have nice pools. The WL lodge pool is very pretty. There is a river that runs from the lobby, out and over a waterfall and "into" the pool. The entire grounds are very pretty and woodsy. It's not your typical idea of central Florida with all the pine trees around. They have a sandy beach also and two hot tubs by the main pool. There was also another smaller pool and hot tub on the side of the resort next to the WL Villas.

Although the GF was on the monorail and the WL wasn't I think we preferred the transportation from the WL. The buses were quick and the boat ride to the MK was also. You also get to see the Electric water parade from the WL.

If you stay at the WL make a point to eat dinner at Artist's Point if it is in your budget. We had our wedding dinner here and LOVED it. We were wary about having the dinner there because no one had ever tried it, but it was the best possible choice! If you like mushrooms, the smoked portabella soup is divine.

Sorry I don't have any info on AKL. We'll be having dinner at Jiko's in Sept, but that doesn't do you any good...

Hey! I'll be at POR for my honeymoon at the same time as you!!!

That's really cool.

Congrats!

I've never been to Disney before so I can't help you, but congrats!

Did you get the bride/groom ears? You have to if you haven't, for everyhting I've heard it's worth it!

My wife and I honeymooned at Dixie Landings (POR), and we had a great time! Make sure you tell the CM's in the park you're on your honeymoon, we got some cards that said Congrats and stuff like that, it was fun!

Did our honeymoon there 5 years ago. They had champagne and roses as well as the towel animals waiting for us. We have been to every hotel/dvc area on property, except for all stars and sog, and find ourselves still returning to the wl every year. Artist Point, corner table by waterfall, is a must. Also go to the lobby late in the eve with take out from rainforest/w.pucks or gourmet pantry (if still there) and a bottle of wine and enjoy one of the fireplaces. AKL is nice but not as romantic IMO. I like it now for my 2 yo son (lots of kids/families). A close second is a corner room overlooking the mk at the gf. Some of the best memories are room service on the balcony and the view/sounds.

I am staying for the first time at WL in Nov and I'm sure I'll love it!! I KNOW I LOVE AKL!!!! For a honeymoom, I would stay with a savannah view at least, though.

We also spent our honeymoon at WL and fell in love with the place the minute we walked into the lobby.
We stayed in a honeymoon suite which isn't technically a suite but was very roomy.
Having stayed in many Disney hotels, this one shares the top spot for its theming, grandeur and romance factor.
With lots of little areas to sit, relax, enjoy a glass of wine, this resort feels like home.

You will enjoy this resort immensely.
