Disney has officially closed a deal with Terry Rossio to write the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film. For those who are unaware, Rossio co-wrote the first fifteen four Pirates films.

Looks like Disney WON'T be bringing back Terry's writing buddy Ted Elliot this time though…but maybe they'll give him another shot for the eleventh or twelfth film!

On Stranger Tides director Rob Marshall will be returning for the fifth Pirates if all goes according to plan, and it appears that Johnny Depp is pretty much set to return as well, although it's not a locked deal as of yet.

How many more sequels are they going to make? Isn't it nearly time for them to reboot the franchise or something? LOLs.

Are U pumped for Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 and/or 4?

I think the plot of sequels gets too complicated with each subsequent sequel, at least it did with Pirates. I think we should treat films the way we do our food - Enjoy it fully, but then back away before we get too much. There are far too many sequels these days (but I AM looking forward to seeing Gemma Ward as a mermaid!).

Is the public really demanding more Pirate films? Or does Hollywood typically tire out one good movie by making more and more?

I love the movies. I also agree that they became harder to follow with #2 and then even more with #3. They were just too busy. I'm an avid movie watcher and I seldom miss plots or subtleties in most film. But I had to watch #2 & #3 several times before I understood what was going on. At least to my own satisfaction. I think they should just make the upcoming (#4) the fair well voyage for Captains Jack & Barbosa. They can always make some CGI cartoon series like Star Wars The Clone Wars.
Pirates are fun and terrific movies but I hope they don't ride them into the ground. They should look into Walt's old saying "you can't top pigs with pigs".
