disney grand california sale start 1-25-09 for founding members

Hello! I'm a very new owner and hopefully owner of GCV when they go on sale! I was curious if anyone had heard anything about the event they're going to have in March for the GCV. Our guide mentioned it to us this week (that's when we bought). He made it sound like it's going to be a really neat event. But I have no further information besides March :)

Well that was just mean of him to tease you like that!

You are correct wdw4life. $5 off per point and developers points that must be used by 10/3/2009 at DL or SSR. There might be a tile or something like BLT but my guide was not sure. If there is a tile, great, if not, I am still happy, happy, happy! (delirious even ;) )

I can think of a couple of reasons:

1) Logistics- having all lock-offs would greatly increase the difficulty of the Room Scheduler's job, and increase the likelyhood of "orphaned" rooms- single rooms that couldn't be matched up with others of it's type. I suspect that the 21 lockoffs will effectively act as dedicated studios & one bedrooms, which should make keeping the rooms full easier.

2) 2 BR Points/night: If they were all lockoffs, the nigntly points for a two bedroom would have to be exactly equal to the points for a studio + 1 BR, however, DVC usually has the 2 BR points price be slightly less than that (and on the VGC point charts we've seen this is the case). So not having all lockoffs allows DVC to keep the relationships between the point requirements for a Studio/1Br/2BR more in line with the existing resorts.

BWV's 2 bedrooms are all lockoffs. 2 bedrooms are less points than studio + 1 bedroom.

For example, preferred view in adventure season, weeknights.
Studio 12
1 bedroom 22
2 bedroom 30

Yes, $5 off and matching developer points. Founding members will also get a painting of the GCV painted by a Japanese artist specifically for DVC. I think that's the "gift" for founders that was mentioned in the contract. My guide also said they're looking into the AP incentives like BLT, but not sure at what amount, etc.

Cool! That's new info to me! I would love an AP incentive, too! Hopefully it would be retroactive for the crazies like me who are plunking down our money this Sunday. I have been waiting for this for a looooooong time!!! Wheee!

What are the AP incentives for BLT?

They were giving out 2 APs (either DLR activation expiring 6/2008 or WDW with no activation expiration) for 160+ point contracts. I'm not sure if they're still giving this incentive out for BLT, but this was the incentive just a few weeks ago.

my guide has told me there is no AP incentive for GCV.

still on the fence.. but if they threw in AP's that just might throw me over the edge since i'm headed to the world in May...... come on guides get it together and thrown in AP'S!!!!!!!!!!

At least give us a really good discount!

DId you have to buy in California? I haven't seen anything about AP incentives for BLT. Has anyone actually received an AP incentive for buying BLT?

Yes, you had to buy in DL. I'm wondering if this will be offered too. We're going to be there March 20th and if I could score 2 more AP's I'll wait until then to purchase.

My understanding from my guide is that they are offering APs until they run out (they have a limited supply left). I had asked if I could swap my vouchers out in June for a later expiration date and she said I could if they had any left, but she didn't think they would.

I don't believe they will be giving them for VGC add ons though.

Still waiting to hear back from my guide to do my VGC add on. Her message mentioned that they were very, very busy and had high call volumes right now. I'm not surprised!

I doubt that there will be any APs with a VGC purchase. That was viewed as a "sweetener" to help entice DL guests to buy into a resort (AKV, BLT, SSR) that was often 3000 miles away from their home.

Since VGC is right there, I doubt they will feel any need to toss-in another $700 worth of park tickets to seal the deal. They don't do that when selling Florida-based resorts to Walt Disney World guests.

Ok--after much thought and deliberation I advised my guide today to go ahead with a large add-on at VGC I'm breaking them up into different contracts; not sure that I will keep them all for the life of the contract but since I spend so much time at Disneyland could not pass up the right to buy!

WooHoo! Me too! Well, if I can get a hold of my guide. And also I am only buying a small contract. I would have loved to have bought more points with the intention of selling them if I didn't need them later. But I'm just trying to be VERY happy that I get to buy at all. Esp since the original plan was to buy less than 100.

Congrats to you! :cool1:

I gave a credit card number to my guide and she is setting up the paperwork for the opening of sales, but I'm curious have any of you received a point chart from your guides. Mine read me some points (she claimed her copy wasn't clear enough to fax) and they matched what was on DVCnews and what was up briefly on the member website. I'm just curious if anyone has one they can hold in their hands.
