We will be in Disney the week of 10/18 with plans to use its Golf Courses (particularly Magnolia and Palm). However, someone has told that it will be closed for a tournament. Is this correct?

If there's a tournament going on during this week, is there any time of day that would allow guest to play? Is it also closed prior to the tournament?

Can guest get ticket to view the torment? How do you get tickets? How far in advance?

How are the other golf courses? Which one is comparable to Magnolia and Palm? And will the other courses be over crowded and hard to get tee times.

Thanks for your help. Trying to make plans for an avid golf lover.

We were there last year for the tournament and I do believe that one of them was closed to the public the entire week but the other was open until Wednesday (I don't remember which one). I could be wrong though. October was a long time ago ;). I would call the golf course directly... they should be able to let you know for sure. DH and I played on both Magnolia and Osprey Ridge prior to last year and we really, really enjoyed Osprey Ridge. We only got halfway through Magnolia and then we were hit with a lot of rain.

The Palm & Magnolia are closed before and during the WDW Classic. I am not sure how long before the tournament it closes, but I would guess a week or so. I am also not sure exactly when the tournament is this year. You can call 1-407-W-DISNEY. They can help with dates. You can buy passes for the tournament - it is great fun. For some reason the pros seem a bit more relaxed and approachable. We have been a couple of times and have really enjoyed it.

As far as other courses: My favorite is Eagle Pines. Osprey Ridge is another option and it adjoins Eagle Pines. Eagle Pines is a Fazio designed course, good layout not too long. You should try to play Palm and Magnolia another time (if not this visit) - just because that's where the tournament is played. They are both LONG courses.

I'm not sure which course it is...but one of the courses is actually ALREADY closed, and the other will be closing in the next month or so. We regularly play at Magnolia and the Palm, and also at softball touranments at the Wide World of Sports...Just last week, a CM (director of softball tournaments) informed me that both courses will be closed all summer to be re-done...They will open again to the public AFTER the tournament is over...

I would DEFINITELY call and verify this information, but like I said, that is what the tournament (sports information) director told me last week...

Stinks for us too...we were hoping to play in August. Now we'll stick to LBV :)

uncle al, you're right, they are long! Last year, we played them one week after the PGA event ended and the rough was IMPOSSIBLE!
Usually my boyfriend plays from the back tees and I play from the men's tees...but I made him let me play the lady's tees on Magnolia!!

I was there in April, and the Palm was closed for rehab. It looked like it was gonna stay that way for a while.

According to WDWgolf.com (an unnofficial site):

Notable Disney Golf Course Closures

Palm Course: From April 7, 2003 to September 28, 2003

Magnolia Course: From June 30, 2003 to August 22, 2003

Oak Trail Course: From June 30, 2003 to August 22, 2003

Call 1-407-WDW-GOLF to verify this information if you are planning to play these courses during these times. All Disney courses are subject to periodic closures for maintenance, irrigation work, aeration and seeding.

We are coming over in October and my Dad and Son would love to get tickets for one day. I have tried ticketmaster but cant find anything. Have the tickets gone on sale yet?

I have tried the telephone number (877) 803-7073 that appears on the website but keep getting a busy signal at all times of day.

Don't know what to do. Any other suggestions to get these tickets?

Thanks.

LeeAnn I emailed wdwgolf and he said it would be possible to get tickets on day. Not sure how true this is! I have rung the number a couple of times and they have no details yet.

In the two years we went to the tournament we had no problems getting our passes on the day of the event. There are no assurances, of course, I would keep trying WDW-GOLF if you need the piece of mind on having the passes in hand.

We have been to this tourney for the past few years and you won't have any problem getting tickets at the tent (gate). This PGA event is the least crowded of any golf tournament we've ever attended! Other than the large group following Tiger around, the course was practically deserted. Made it great for watching the other pros. Of course my DD wanted to get Tigers autograph, so we battled the crowd at the autograph area and just missed getting his. We will try again this year.
