Disney Golf - questions

Not sure if this is the right place to post this... but my folks are headed to WDW for a week of golfing later this week and they have a couple of questions:

1) Can you use your Chase Disney Visa rewards dollars for golf?

2) Heard there was a problem with the greens recently - that Disney didn't water as usual and they had less rain than expected, so the greens are in bad shape - anyone been out on the links in the last few weeks?

3) Heard they are going to shut down 2 golf courses and build a 4-star hotel with a golf resort in it's place. Anyone else know of this???

Folks leave on Thursday - would appreciate any insights!!!

Thanks!

1. You can use your Disney Visa Rewards to pay your greens fees; I have done it many times in the past.

2. I played last in Jan and the greens were fine then.

3. This is a rumor - actually not true. Both Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge will stay (the new resort will just look over the courses, but not take the place of). Disney makes alot of money from their golf courses.....no need to shut them down.

Played on LBV two weeks ago and the greens were in good shape. Don't know about the other courses

Don't know about an overall greens condition issue, but I do know that they are seeding the Eagle Pines and Osprey Ridge courses right now, so they are in "seasonal transition" for the next month or so. This can cause the greens to be pretty rough - I would tell them to play the other courses (Palm, Magnolia or Buena Vista).

Actually this is not a rumor it is quite true. All of the official press releases say they will be gone. The Four Seasons resort will actually be on the Eagle Pines Course Site and Osprey Ridge will be "reworked and rebranded" for the Four Seasons. I talked to the master starter office this morning and the 2 courses are scheduled to be open until at least September (that is all the further out the starter had info for at this time). Since some of the work on the FS resort is supposed to start sometime later this year, I would immagine at least Eagle Pines will not get the winter over seeding and be closed before Jan of 08. Osprey may live a little longer but not much I'd wager.

We played Osprey, Eagle and Palm in early Dec and the greens were in very nice shape at that time

As we're talking golf wondered if any one knew if WDW courses give courtesy to PGA members as my DH is a pro and most courses do and it would save some $!
