Disney Going to Southern Hemisphere

I was going to say that Australians (and the rest of the world really!) get much better leave than the US.

I’m in the UK and get six weeks plus bank holidays, which is another right days. And I can buy three further days of holiday. So normally I have somewhere between 7-8 weeks off work each year.

I would do the repo in a heartbeat if the flights weren’t so long.
I guess being Australian means we are used to long flights, they just don't bother me much. We regularly do 13-23 hour flights in economy.
Sleep for most of it, watch a few movies, eat some snacks and you're there.

I'd never let a longer flight keep me from seeing the world. Australia is very different to anywhere you could ever go, I hope you can make it here one day

I’ve been to Australia (and New Zealand) - but I spent six weeks in each. New Zealand was my favourite (sorry!)

I still broke up the fight with days in Singapore and Hong Kong on each side. One I get past like 13/14 hours I just don’t want to see a plane again for a while, I could never do a 24 hour flight.

It’s funny, I’ve seen heaps of people on here saying the think the itineraries look boring, but I’m so excited about the idea of a cruise to nowhere. Other than Castaway Cay we haven’t been super impressed with the ports we‘ve been to in the past (only done Caribbean) and mostly just stayed on the ship anyway. So 4 nights and no ports suits us really well.

This time around we will have a 2.5 year old so I’m feeling like 4 nights will be plenty. Our 8 year old will probably want to stay in longer, but I think we will save the longer cruises until her little sister is older.

I’m hoping that these cruises will be popular and will turn into longer cruises the following summer.

I loved both my UK Staycations to nowhere. To me the ship is as much of a destination as the ports.

Eh, plenty of people in the US get that kind of time off. People with entry-level jobs and in some sectors don't, but most others do. I get five weeks, plus the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, plus 5-6 other holidays throughout the year. Plenty of time for travel!

Do you get vacation, bank holidays and sick leave? Is the 7-8 weeks with all of those paid by the employer? Or is sick leave different? I have been trying to understand that?

Most of us traveling on miles and points vastly prefer those 13+ hour long flights. Partly because we always travel in lie-flat seats but never pay more than the economy or PE fares. And, this way, we can (1) sleep for long enough and (2) decide when to sleep to line it up with the time of day on arrival.

The international flights we stress over are the 7-8 hour overnighters between our east coast and the European west coast. Say, between NYC and London. Just not enough time for a good sleep, but we have to sleep as it's our overnight flight. And then you are traveling with kids who will spend half of that time doing :happytv: .

The Hawaii to Sydney cruises look fantastic. I'm not sure I could get that much time off, but I will definitely look at it.

Sick leave is totally separate and yes this is all paid for by the employer.

This is what I'm hoping for too 😊 We are looking at the 4 nighter, but a 7 night round trip departing NZ would be just peachy please!
