Disney Gives Me the Warm Fuzzies. January 2010 PreTrip Report. Update 11/6 Pg. 79

Ah the budget. A necessary evil. :headache::headache: I'm with you... hate all math except fuzzy Disney math.

The AP. It is a big chunk of change. But based on your plans it seems like the smart choice. And just think about how it will "enable" additional trips during that year period. Yup- watch out - a lot harder to resist when you already have tickets!

It does suck you in when you have your AP already, doesn't it?

Well. we already have our ticket
and we get an AP room rate
and we won't eat much.
It'll just be a budget trip.
:)

Yeah, right!
I've eaten those words before
and yet I never learn.

That's so funny that Marc didn't like the looks of the alligators at POFQ! They are a little weird but that wouldn't stop me from staying there. A clown slide at the Boardwalk, though, would definitely stop me from going there --

I think the clown slide might be frightening enough to keep me from early morning walks if I were to stay at Boardwalk. :rotfl:

No more enabling! I have my vacationing scheduled figured out through 2011 for the most part and there will be no more 2010 Disney trips! Marc will have every electronic imaginable if I keep going to Disney and we just don't have the room for them in our apartment! ;)

:rotfl2: on the electronics! You have a point. But what fun would there be if there was no more enabling? ;) And maybe this trip will firmly place Marc in the category of addicted and he'll forgo additional electronics for more WDW?

BTW-vacations planned thru 2011? What do you have planned?

So great to read about things shaping up so well for January. I took a solo trip in January in 08 and I loved it. The weather was perfect and the crowds were non-existent. Did you guys do the KTTK tour yet????? If you haven't, you should really consider it. I booked mine when I got down there and was lucky enough to get a spot due to a last minute cancellation.

I am positive you will be able to score an AP rate for your room. I've had really good luck with AP rates. I got a nice rate last December for one night at POFQ and I got another excellent rate this June at CSR. I stayed glued to the Resort Page (rates and codes) for weeks.

That is a pretty steep price for an AP, but it will be worth it if you go on two trips. You would pay much more than than that for 2 separate park tickets. Your single day park ticket will have a higher value now, so that should definately help take the sting out. That is why I love DVC. DH's renewal price was under $350 for his AP.

Have been away from my computer for a while and so much to comment!!! :scared1:

First: Congratulations on your weight loss!! I guess every pound lost before surgery will help. When will Marc's surgery be or hasn't he a date yet?

My sister really hated those alligators at POFQ at first, too. She got the impression that they were all over the place. She still does not like them, but POFQ finally made it to 2nd place on our resort short list!

POR is beautiful, we stayed there in 2004 and it was so relaxing to walk in these grounds! Somehow I just don't really like the room decor anymore, I guess it looks already outdated to me, but I am not a person who likes flowers and frills in room decor anyway...

Actually, you will be in WDW for my birthday in November! :goodvibes If your trip were scheduled for 2011 we might have met then, since I plan to spend my 40th (:scared1:) there... So in January we miss each other by a week and in November by a year! :lmao:

Pop is great choice for a short trip and I think the price is really tempting! :thumbsup2 Would be my choice for a cheap short trip as well. I really like all the history details they have added!

Oh, and my warm Disney Fuzzy: the smell in the AKL lobby!

:lmao: I have those exact same moments; you're not alone. I now generally have to preface things with, "I can't remember if I told you this, but..." or, "did I tell you about _____ already?" When my dad does similar things, my mom jokingly calls it a senior moment. I don't know what it could be called when I do it.
I'm also famous for telling him the same thing over and over again. I don't know what to call them but we are way too young for senior moments. Brain Farts? :lmao:

Budget trip...in Disney?! Ha! ;)

Really? The clown slide frightens you that much? Hmm..I think he's kinda cute. :rotfl:

Marc wants DVC so I think that is a very promising thing, he just wants to travel to other places too. I do too for that matter.

Summer 2011 we are going to rent a cabin or a camp on a lake in Maine with some out of town guests.

November 2011 I have another Disney trip planned.

It is pretty steep. Someday when I have DVC AP's will be more reasonable. It is about a $95 difference with what I would be paying for the two different sets of park tickets so add in any possible AP discounts and it's very worth it!

Thanks on the weight loss congrats. This week I have been doing horrible. I've been wanting to eat everything in sight. I get weighed tomorrow and I'm a bit nervous.

That stinks that we are going to keep missing each other! No fair!!

I'm excited about staying at Pop again. I think it's a great option for a shorter/more budget minded trip. :thumbsup2

I know exactly what you mean about the cost of the AP tickets. I have to keep reminding myself if I upgrade then I won't have to worry about next fall, or my possible March trip. Luckily mine won't be quite so much to upgrade this year, as they are already 5 day, non expir. passes. I think it's about half the cost.

I had to laugh about the alligators. My two nieces loved them the one day they came to visit us at POPQ last year. My older niece told my brother and sil later that she wanted to stay there the next time she came to Disney. The corruption begins, she's 7 and already doesn't want to stay off-site anymore. :rotfl: I don't know if there is any one thing that really freaks me out, although a few of the pics I had seen of the Wilderness Lodge had the possiblity to mess with my head. I saw a few shots somewhere on the boards that made it look like the Overlook hotel in The Shining. :scared1: I kept expecting those creepy girls to show up saying "Come play with us Crissy". Ick!

Maybe it's a good thing I'm not staying there any longer, huh? :rotfl:

:rotfl: That's the perfect word for our kinds of moments. It sounds so much better than "senior moments." I thought of you earlier because I totally had one when I was going to the doctor's (whose office is in MY city) -- I was going through our square and almost panicked because I couldn't remember where exactly to go, even though it's in a big honking intersection and therefore very hard to miss. :rotfl2:

Ugh, the dreaded budget. A necessary evil, though, and it sounds like you've got your expenses well planned. The annual pass is a big chunk! Could it be a Christmas gift from someone(s)?

I'm so anxious to hear all about how your surgery goes! A little over a week, right?

So glad that I haven't seen The Shining. I hate scary/creepy movies. :scared1:

That is good that your AP upgrade won't be as much. I'm just going to try to sock away my pennies until January, hopefully then it won't seem so bad.

Yes, Brain Farts are good.

You know what I did yesterday? I drove past the entrance to my apartment complex? :rolleyes1

9 Days until surgery! Eeeek! I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I have my presurgical testing tomorrow, along with a teaching session about everything I need to know. So close!

Yeah, I've been MIA for a while, you know family trips, work...life. Doesn't everyone know that there's important stuff I need to keep track of? :rotfl:
Hehehe. Really, people should get their priorities straight! :rotfl2:

How exciting for you to be planning 2 trips at one time!!!:) And just think about how wonderful you and your hubby are going to feel and look by the time you guys go together in November 2010. :thumbsup2

By the way, I thought that your take on the whole math skills thing was hilarious!!!! I'm in banking too. And I'm the same way with math. I can't do anything without my calculator!:rotfl: But give me a calculator and it's on!!!!

I'm so glad you started a new PTR! I just caught up and everything sounds good so far. I love the warm fuzzies at the end!

Hey, LL. With school starting off in full swing for me, I've kinda been AWOL from the DIS lately. But I just wanted to come and say that I hope you have a safe surgery next week and a quick and healthy recovery. I can't wait to hear more Disney news, too, and I'm sure we'll be getting lots of it in the coming weeks. ;)

I'm really looking forward to the November 2010 trip with Marc. I think it's going to be a lot of fun and a really different trip with us both feeling much better!

So glad I'm not the only one in banking who hates math!

Thanks for joining me over here! I love thinking of the warm fuzzies...it's a lot of fun.

I'm gone for 2 weeks and you have ANOTHER PTR.....ha! Okay, I'm here.
Yep! That's me, tricky! :lmao:

Hi LL!!
I've finally got the chance to catch up here and see what was new!!

Sounds like a fantastic trip planned with Jen! I'm excited you and Jen get to go again together (right after my birthday 1/13!!) and staying at POP...love POP, it's a great resort and the price is right!!:thumbsup2

And I'm excited about your trip with Marc, too!! My DH and I honeymooned at Dixie Landings, love it, it's really beautiful there!!! You're going to love it, too!!:lovestruc

Congrats on the weight loss, you're doing great!!!! :thumbsup2 Keep up the good work!!:thumbsup2 It's SO hard to lose weight...and so easy to lose focus, you're doing so great!! I'm praying and thinking of you with your upcoming surgery!!!

Looking forward to hearing more about the upcoming trip(s)!!!!:surfweb:

I'm so glad you guys are going back on another trip together in November!!!! You will have a really romantical time indeed!

Made it here and all caught up! I think you were wise to postpone. One just never knows how they'll feel after a surgery. All the best with it, coming up soon!
Your trip with Jen sounds great and I like Pop as a hotel, economical but fun!
Love your warm fuzzies too!
Allyson

I'm finally reading your budget update...being gone for 3 days from the DIS does a number to a person! ;)

I don't like doing the budget either, but Fuzzy Disney Math is always fun. ::yes:: The AP is a killer, and beware, it just makes you want to cram more and more trips in during the year you have it! The only other thing I have read online about trying to get a cheaper AP is to buy a 10 day Park Hopper from a ticket broker with their discounted tickets, use one so they become "activated" by Disney (and therefore at their price) and then upgrade it. Usually you end up saving $20+, but there is some pre-planning of buying the tickets, and some time involved to exchange them. Not sure if any of that made ANY sense, but there is always chatter on the Budget Board about this method...

Or just buy DVC, then you get a discount! :lmao:
