This hasn't changed. We just got back from our trip on Friday and we used our MB and paid it off with a Disney gift card at night. So I used to be able to link my cc to my band then head down to concierge and pay it off with Disney Giftcards? I heart rumblings that has changes...is this true?
Don't like the idea of carrying around a $500 gift card. Ya, if I have to go every night it will be a bit of trouble, but better than possibly losing $500.That seems like a lot of trouble, going to the desk every night to pay. Can't you just pay with the gift cards as you go? Or don't they take gift cards in the restaurants/shops?
I take it you have no plans to do any mobile ordering? This is what I am going to do. I will be charging back to our room our meals, drinks, snacks, ect. And I will be paying the room tab off with a Disney Gift Card. I will have a couple of gift cards with $500 each on them for dining and then maybe three more with a total of $300 on those, for spending money. I will be keeping these gift cards in our room safe. I do wish I could load them onto our room at the beginning of our trip, but as of now we can't.
I don't know yet. Ya, that is a downside and it has crossed my mind.I take it you have no plans to do any mobile ordering?
For mobile ordering, you can pay directly on the app with a credit card. It isn't linked to your room.I don't know yet. Ya, that is a downside and it has crossed my mind.
Right, but I will have almost all my dining funds allotted to a gift card. I will just wait and see when I finalize for certain where we will eat.For mobile ordering, you can pay directly on the app with a credit card. It isn't linked to your room.
Credit card or dining plan credits can be used.Does mobile ordering require a credit card to be linked to the account? What if you're on the dining plan?
Thanks for clarifying. I've been reading through the other thread too and misunderstood why you were using gift cards. It would be nice if you could use a gift card for mobile ordering. For mobile ordering, you can pay directly on the app with a credit card. It isn't linked to your room.
I always use gift cards but have never thought of keeping a zero balance one just incase. So smart! One way to protect your gift card with money while walking around with it ....
Have all your cards added to Disneygiftcard.com,. Also add a $0 (or other low amount) "spare card" on there too... If you lose your card that has money on it, just log into the web site on your phone and transfer the money from the lost card to the spare.
I did that last year and actually had to utilize this method to save two $35 gift cards I lost. It worked. One way to protect your gift card with money while walking around with it ....

Don't have a spare, or left it behind and need it asap, pop into the nearest gift shop and buy a gift card with the lowest dollar amount possible, add it to the gift card web site, then transfer the money to it .
They charge your credit card every 5 days. So, you don’t need to go to the front desk to pay off your balance everyday, but before they charge it on the 5th day.I'm confused why this is necessary to do at the end of every day? I just gave my gift cards I had saved up to them the day after we checked in and they used them at the end of the trip?
